That's what happened over in England not too long ago when the newspapers put fake pictures of abuse by soldiers of Iraqi prisoners - the pictures were staged fakes - the editor got in trouble and his defense was "they represent the real story of what's happening over there" - same talking point you hear today "the memo represents what witnesses have said"

yes, exactly! thank you for that reminder

The established media has definitely gone beyond news to indoctination/propaganda. They are now justifying it, with these explanations!

The story is everything.
The story is what they decide the sheeple need to know/think.
Deciding what to cover and what NOT to cover to advance their agenda is an old method.
Stuffing contrary witnesses and evidence has also been a standby method.
Fabricating evidence, just to get their concept of the world into the NEWS and into the MINDS of the sheeple seems to be the cutting edge of "journalism" in the new millenium.

One could call them a wolf in sheeps clothing. I.E. a propagandist in the guise of objective news coverage.
Now, the mask has fallen from their true faces, as they even TELL us that Made Up Evidence in Support of THEIR STORY is justified!! There is no mask of objective journalism anymore; there is the propagandist LOOKING us square in the face -- wagging his finger at us, so to speak -- telling us: IT'S THE STORY, STUPID.

If we let them get by with this, well, we ARE stupid . . .
