Here it is now...
CBS NEWS CBS BUILDING NEW YORK, NY
MEMORANDUM FROM: Dan Rather TO: ALL
RE: CYA Journalism
It has come to our attention that certain individuals wearing pajamas have questioned the quality of our reporting. For crying out loud! Who are you going to believe? Us? Or ten thousand misfits in their pajamas? This seems like a no-brainer to us. We're CBS and you should know better than to doubt us. Signed, Dan Rather Editor and grand poobah |
Hmmm... Looks pretty authentic to me.

Look for:
We admit there may be problems with the documents shown on 60 minutes. However, through numerous unimpeachable sources we have concluded that. while their may be problems with the form of the memos, the content represents an accurate depiction of the events from that time period.
The ball is squarely in President Bush's court. He has continuously avoided answering questions and addressing the issues raised by the content of the memos. The allegations contained in the memos, if true, are of such a serious nature that it is incumbent upon the President to address the issue forthwith. Continued stonewalling by the Republicans and the Bush campaign lends significant credibility to the content expressed in the memos.

CBSNEWS PLANS STATEMENT TO 'CLARIFY' BUSH GUARD DOCUMENTS STORY... DEVELOPING...
That is posted on Drudge right now.
You just knew they were not going retract it.
Sound like they will dance around the issue....
WHICH WILL JUST MAKE THEM LOOK WORSE.

CBS is buying time with this stonewall tactic. I think that THEY'RE TRYING TO FORGE THE FORGERIES. They know that the presentation of mechanically produced exact replicas will weld their case against Bush. I'm very afraid that some company with linotype capability is working on this right now.
If these "forged forgeries" show up who would be left to denounce them but a bunch of right-wing lunatics in pajamas?

About the best they could do is to admit that they didn't vet the "evidence" and the pressures of scheduling caused them to take away from the important issues at hand and they regret that an erroneous impression was created by the partisan critics who lay in wait and, at that moment, chose to blow the whole thing up to an impossible level of scrutiny in this day of non-universal HDTV. The future will allow all TV programs to produce clear images unimpeachable even under a microscope and CBS intends to be there with the latest and the highest optical quality.

Am I the only one that thinks it is funny that the subject line for the most oft quoted forgery is "CYA"? The foreshadowing is almost too much.

The 'pajama bloggers' was supposed to be a negative remark by some liberal mainstream media.
So far, it has gone over about like the Fighting Whities t-shirts at a college in Colorado.
The t-shirts were intially created as a 'dig' and a way of showing how nicknames (of sports teams) were so un-PC. Backfired. T-shirt sales shot up beyond belief.
Similary, the 'pajama bloggers' nickname backfired and those bloggers in pj's (and a few probably even less formal in briefs or otherwise) accepted the nickname proudly.

I want to know WHO is their source and HOW COME they ignored those that stated in the beginning that they were forgeries? Is their "journalism" always this BIASED and BLIND to truth?
