Kelley Wright just reported that CBS is expected to make a statement this morning regarding the documents!
So did you type that on a Selectric or a Olympia.
Sheesh.
They're using an email as their reply????
What a bunch of spineless weasles. I was expecting a press conference.
We admit there may be problems with the documents shown on 60 minutes. However, through numerous unimpeachable sources we have concluded that. while their may be problems with the form of the memos, the content represents an accurate depiction of the events from that time period.
The ball is squarely in President Bush's court. He has continuously avoided answering questions and addressing the issues raised by the content of the memos. The allegations contained in the memos, if true, are of such a serious nature that it is incumbent upon the President to address the issue forthwith. Continued stonewalling by the Republicans and the Bush campaign lends significant credibility to the content expressed in the memos.
"We still stand behind the story".
I wonder if they will ask about all the memos she typed.
Perhaps CBS has heard that Congress may look into this. How would CBS like to be the subject of a Congressional investigation.
Their statement,
cbs is full of b.s but we plan to add c back in soon. dan is a man and we are your station of fraud.
I believe that he is defending the authenticity of the documents. That is precisely why Matley, Gannon, and others have been called up night after night. That is why on the first night of this controversy Rather tried to pull a fast one with a false comparison between the superscript on the memos and a non-superscripted "th" on others.
It makes no sense to go to this length defending docs you know to be forged. Again, if this were a rope-a-dope all Rather would have to do would be stonewall, say nothing for two or three weeks, let the internet and the rest of the MSM go mad, and then calmly release the originals. There would be no credibility damage (because he would not have defended forged docs) and it would be a hugh smack-down to blogdom and Bush.
But he didn't do that. Instead he spent night after night mounting pathetic defenses of the memos as authentic docs.
Now I ax ya, why would he purposely do that if he knew they were false AND has had the originals the whole time?
The stock price is down a bit.
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--CBS News will release a statement Wednesday concerning its recent story about U.S. President George W. Bush's Vietnam-era service in the Texas Air National Guard, Fox News reported, citing a CBS News official.
According to the report, CBS will issue the statement via e-mail around noon Wednesday.
Well, "get away with it" can mean different things. We know there are no ramifications for making false charges, until the line of defamation is crossed.
But if "get away with it" includes the notion that the assertion is accepted as truthful, then CBS has gotten away with nothing. Most people believe the documents are forged, and therefore the allegations in them are void.
You know, We have got to get back to the issues in this campaign as well.. this is a diversionary tactic to keep us away from the real issues
A Congressional hearing into the CBS/DNC Killian flap will divert attention from nearly all other issues.
But it has dropped 23% since January..... Ouch, for anyone who still owns it.
CBSNEWS PLANS STATEMENT TO 'CLARIFY' BUSH GUARD DOCUMENTS STORY... DEVELOPING...
Martha Stewart news conference. This may be what CBS was waiting for. They will release the email during this new conference.
That sounds plausible. A big controversy like this could easily shake out a lot of really talented forgers.
Sad ... really sad.
CBS is buying time with this stonewall tactic. I think that THEY'RE TRYING TO FORGE THE FORGERIES. They know that the presentation of mechanically produced exact replicas will weld their case against Bush. I'm very afraid that some company with linotype capability is working on this right now.
If these "forged forgeries" show up who would be left to denounce them but a bunch of right-wing lunatics in pajamas?
