Kelley Wright just reported that CBS is expected to make a statement this morning regarding the documents!
Really. A new ad. This is getting really wild.
Nah, the connotations too negative. Same with 'Pajamahadeen'. I like 'Pajama Warriors', myself!
Even if there is a challenge by Congress and the FCC, CBS can stick to its guns. The matter won't quite be "in limbo," it would become THE story of the time.
The announcement will be that Rather is retiring and starting his own rock band.
Dan the Sham and the Phorgers.
I wonder if the email they are referring to is the one they reveived from the expert questtioning the docs?
CBS : " Dan Rathers' daughter is not a fat, ugly bull dyke. She's just big-boned. Thank You. "
I think it might be a mea culpa e-mail. If so, truly gutless. And desperate. Makes me wonder even more who the source was...
Excerpt:
Dan Rather was complicit in defrauding the American public in an attempt to defeat a sitting President.
Rather must be fired now. Congress should subpoena CBS News' lawyers and all documentation of their advice.
But Dan Rather and CBS News had become co-conspirators by the time of their broadcast. ABC News has revealed that two of the experts whom CBS News consulted before running the broadcast Emily Will from North Carolina and Linda James of Plano, Texas could not and would not authenticate the fraudulent Killian memos, and expressly told CBS that.
The first witness must be an appropriate custodian of records from CBS News, who must be directed to bring every shred of paper, every email, every piece of videotape, every computer file, every outtake, every script, every memorandum of staff meetings and every bit of advice rendered by inside or outside legal counsel to CBS News prior to the broadcast. There is no attorney-client privilege to shield advice rendered to assist a client in the perpetration of a crime or a fraud. See, e.g., Swindler & Berlin v. United States, 524 U.S. 399 (1998); United States v. Zolin, 491 U.S. 554 (1989).
You made coffee come out of my nose.
Here is the thread about the fax number .. I'm not sure exactly which one they are talking about

OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
CBS News Release:
- After an exhaustive internal investigation, we have determined that the memos in question were in fact prepared on a computer using Microsoft Word. However, one of our research staff did so from originals which our experts tell us had been typed on a 1969 IBM Selectric.
You see, our researcher was so concerned that someone might be able to trace the name of our source if they could match the original typewriter font to a name, that he transcribed the documents to protect the identity of our secret informant. Unfortunately, our researcher neglected to tell Mr.Rather of his actions and has just returned from vacation, with the original documents, in time to straighten out this confusion.
CBS regrets any inconvenience that this small misunderstanding might have caused and, of course, continues to stand by it's story.
( Yeah, that's the ticket )
I'd have to look, but Chris Cox seems to have information that USA Today received their memos independently from a source vouching for their authenticity and they won't divulge who he is.
wonder if that email will be in Times New Roman...Courier...typewitten......decisions, decisions
"Using 20 20 hindsight we have decided Dan Rather is an full blown idiot. But, we stand behind him and his documents."
That's "New Times Roman" according to CBS News Correspondent Dan Rather.
Read the information, the machine at least needs a belt, and may not work at all.
'USA Today' May Play Role in Resolving Issue of Bush's Military Records
With little fanfare, USA Today has revealed that it, too, received letters and memos purportedly written in the early 1970s by Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, Bush's former commander in the Texas National Guard.
USA Today said it received the documents shortly after the Wednesday night "60 Minutes" segment, and that it got two documents in addition to the four aired on CBS. The paper says it has launched its own investigation.

My bad! LOL!!
