An unknown Chechen rebel group called the 'Black Widows' organized the siege of a school in the Russian city of Beslan in which hundreds of children, their parents and teachers were killed.

Authorities in the Russian capital insist Al Qaeda sposored militants, including at least 10 Arabs, were responsible for the tradegy.

But independent sources have indicated from day one of the bloody event that more than five armed women were not only among the militants, but that one of them led the group.

The group responsible for the siege called itself 'Black Widows of Chechnya' and comprised women whose husbands and loved ones had been killed by Russian troops over the last 10 years.

According to sources, the militants sent a message through a woman that they wanted to address a press conference to explain why they had targeted a school.

The Russian authorities had initially indicated that they were ready to negotiate, but it turned out that they were only buying time.

Of course it is. The media is shifting away from the WOT because they know Kerry hasn't a chance on this subject. It has to be about economics now. Don't you remember Clinton: It's the economy stupid. While terror reigns.

This contradicts what the eyewitnesses (hostages) said.

Dear Russia - Get out the history books and read about how the Romans would have dealt with a problem like this, do it, and move on...

I believe one of the eyewitness hostage reports said that a device fell from a basketball hoop and imploded, starting the free for all.

I was referring to this report's statement that a woman was leader of the group.

That's correct. Shift focus away from Islam to Chechnyan independence. They cannot bring themselves to admit the most basic truth; that in any other culture besides Islam, no matter how badly they might want independence or hate their oppressors, the idea of kidnapping and murdering children would never have been considered. The idea of masked men beheading prisoners on videotape would never have been considered. Lots of bad things would never have been considered.

"Shifting away" implies that at one time they were focused on the WOT.

Al Queda will ally with or even coop any "insurgent" movement to further its aims. Just heard AQ is poking around mexico, central and south america for troubled waters to fish in. AQ is simply stepping in where the world communist subversive movement left off.

Well as all the Jihadi men consider it a great victory to attack a school bus or a grocery store, I guess they could not find a Jihadi man with enough, er, guts to lead the squad...
