Fresh off his 'Christmas in Cambodia' fairy tale, The Poodle has been caught in another whopper, this time regarding one of his Purple Hearts. This is separate from the questions surrounding his being awarded the Purple Heart in the first place.
It looks like Kerry has contradicted himself in his own diary. In Douglas Brinkley's "Tour of Duty," which is Kerry's official, approved war biography, The Poodle writes an entry after a mission. In that entry he says that after several missions he has not yet taken any enemy fire. Ok .. big deal. Big whoop, right? Sorry .. but actually this is a big deal.
The problem here is that this particular entry in Kerry's diary was made concerning the mission which followed that mission where he earned his first Purple Heart. Now .. think this one through. Kerry goes on a mission and earns a Purple Heart. Then, after his next mission, Kerry writes in his diary that he has not yet experienced any enemy fire. Tell me .. if Kerry had not yet experienced enemy fire then how did he earn a Purple Heart?
Again, just as with Swift Boat Veterans for Truth allegations, somebody is lying. Is it The Poodle, who has now been caught in yet another lie, or those who have nothing to gain by pointing out the inconsistencies?
Shouldn't the media be taking a look at this? That's right...I forgot. The media is so pro-Kerry they will never do anything to damage his chances in the presidential election. They really need to concentrate on figuring out whether or not George Bush showed up for guard service.

Back then I thought you could earn a purple heart even with self inflicted wounds. So, though I know Kerry's a bigtime liar, he wouldn't have been lying about this. His purple heart came as a result of a self inflicted wound--not from the enemy.
Except that, as I understand it, Kerry wrote up the report used to put himself up for the award and said that it was a wound from hostile fire. That makes it a damned lie and is further proof that all of his claims are subject to scrutiny.....but I don't think it will happen unless people like us demand it.
Kerry just got done lying to the VFW right now.... This guy really makes me sick... After saying he is Anti-war candidate now he trys to pander to the war effort in front of Veterans.... Any Vet who votes for Kerry has forgotten where he came from.

Excuse me but the media has far greater things to investigate then some paltry 30 year lie of a Democratic Presidential nominee, like suing to get records on George W. Bush's 1976 DWI arrest. You know-----the IMPORTANT stuff.

You thought wrong. You could not get a Purple Heart unless the injury was due to enemy action. For instance, Max Cleland was not awarded a Purple Heart for his aggregious wounds.
PS. The previous is in no way meant to belittle the sacrifice of Max Cleland or to question his patriotism. It is an obvious point, but for some reason it has to be made.

Actually, I do think that Kerry has some minor talent in this regard. His problem is that the sheer overwhelming volume of lies has finally overcome his considerable abilities.
You can get a purple heart from a self-inflicted wound if you are actually in combat. If the VC had been on the river bank firing at Kerry and he launched a grenade at a target within its blast radius and was injured by a fragment from his own grenade, he could get a purple heart. (There are some rules about gross negligence but I don't know the details.) However if no VC were there and he just launched the grenade into the river bank he shouldn't get a purple heart.
