This thread brings to mind the movie, Tunes Of Glory, one of the BEST flicks ever made. OUTSTANDING performances by Alec Guinness and John Mills. Anybody else out there ever see this movie?

We are in the middle of a war to the death with Islam. The British army is overstreached. Yet Tony Blair's government is going to make big cuts in the Army, Navy and Airforce.
Stark, raving and mad.

Don't have any trouble cutting jobs and rearranging the military. But, wouldn't it be a major PR blunder to disband the Black Watch?

It's all about streamlining Europe's many small militaries into one larger EU Dept of Defense based in Brussels.

If you don't think violating international law & murdering 300,000 people is grounds for war, what then is the Black Watch for?
May it & Europe RIP, from a American-Scot.

Although there appears to be a body of opinion within the Army that Gen Jackson's proposals are on the right lines, anyone wishing to take action can lobby their MP or MSP through the Save Our Scottish Regiments Website, - www.blae.net/sosr
It has also been suggested that old soldiers like myself should not get involved in the army's restructuring consultations, but should leave it to those currently serving. But as a taxpayer...
