When is Dear Martha going to hire someone to go to jail for her?
I could buy int obstruction if there is a crime that is being prosecuted. As a juror I would want to see some statistics as to how many people go to jail for proclaiming their innocence.
Martha biggest shame is that she's a lying Democrat Elitist.
Did she (at least try to) apologize ?
What an arrogant B....
yeah you sure can't lie under oath and get away with it unless your name is Bill Clintoon.
Can the people repeal this sentence?
In the final weeks before Stewart's sentencing, hundreds of well-wishers sent letters to the judge asking for mercy.
"I am alone now with my pets," a woman named Ruth Ritter wrote to the judge in careful script. "Just seeing Martha doing her crafts, cooking, gardening, was a great comfort to me."
......... and 'CRAFTS' she did !
Wouldn't be to smart to apologize if she is still appealing the case, now would it?
Now lets see if any of the prosecutors go for the same thing,,,,,,ummm, nope, I don't think they will be going.
The whole thing is about carreer advancement for prosecuters.
Money was lost by her stockholders because of the ridiculous charges against her, not because she sold stock in ANOTHER company on the advice of a broker. I'll tell you what, if my broker told me to sell some stock because he heard it was going to get negative news soon I would sell it, as would anybody else. If we are going to go after Martha then let's go after any person who has ever sold stock as a result of "inside information".
I really don't understand why they made Martha's the token case to prosecute. What about all the stock manipulation that helped create the NASDAQ bubble five years ago? What about the special treatment given to privileged clients by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse First Boston, Schwab, and other big brokerage companies, to the great detriment of the other investors? But no, they chose to pick a not very lovable celebrity who committed a relatively minor (compared to the serious cases I just mentioned) offense. It's just strange.
Good clue she's a Dem: She walked out of the Courthouse with a little animal collar on her coat. I expected to see thousands of protestors (not).
The above statement is TOTALLY FALSE. I just made it up! It's a lie! Just like Michael Moore I can lie and there is little if nothing any of YOU HERE can do about it!
But, if I were to lie to certain people with federal badges I can get arrested and hauled into court? The thrown into jail? Bummer...
I'm trying to figure out what good she has done. She's in it for herself and no one else.
This case is class warfare at its best. The jury's decision makes me fear for this country!
I see your point. This whole thing seems crazy to me. To picture Martha in prison with "real" criminals just doesnt jive with me.
i get tired of all the people who feel sorry for her.
she's the one that chose to lie.
she's not a victim. early in her career she worked on the stock market.
It takes some doing to get conservatives riled up over the prosecution of a democrat. This is one of those gotcha laws that are on the books and never enforced except when the government decides to go after you. There are thousands of such laws, and any of us could be prosecuted for violation of at least one of them.
