However, in the 1990s, some women with extremely questionable associations were allowed to stay in the service--their commanders were afraid that any negative action would get DACOWITS angry at them. (Apparently, one woman did actually start up with the "I am woman, hear me call DACOWITS" stuff after getting caught attending a Klan rally--and DACOWITS came to her aid.) In one case, I heard of a zoomette captain--with a Secret clearance, no less--who got spotted at a "sovereign citizen's militia meeting" by AFOSI--no action taken.
