MacArthur Flournoy and Glenn Alexander have been together nine years and have owned a house in Sacramento for the last two. They are African American and gay, they are raising five children and they believe laws that prohibit them from marrying violate their civil rights.

So many great quotes. I love these people. Here are two of my favorites:

"We don't have a choice in the fact that we were born with a skin color," Bennett said. "But I certainly can make a choice about who I lay down and sleep with."

"If the KKK opposes gay marriage, I would ride with them," the Rev. Gregory Daniels said at a recent Chicago news conference of African American Baptist ministers.

Notice how the author tries to make the liberal postition the default position. They are trying to say it would be NORMAL to support homosexuals, its odd blacks do not see the civil rights.

I have a newsflash, it is NOT ambivalance. It is downright anger. The people I meed who are of color do not supprt this homosexualizing of the civil rights movement. Homosexuality is a private behaviro not your skin color which everone sees.

There is no "parity" in the private sex act of homosexuals and Marriage to produce children. This article is just another page from the homosexual agenda because it puts fort the anecdote of homosexuals raising children. If this author is a homosexual, it should be disclosed for the bias exhibited in the opening of the article.

One more:

"They're never going to get past the fact that marriage was meant to be between one man and one woman," she said. "That's never going to change."

We are with you 100%

Good points. Who gave those two gay guys 5 children anyway. Want to bet not a single one of them is a biological child to either man? They are probably foster children who have no one to object but the state.

Churches will not be forced?

BS and lawrence will not lead to homosexual marraige. Mass SJC quoted it.

Ok they will not force churches, but they will make life impossible if they do not. Remove tax breaks, tax penalties, prohibit recognizing ANY marriage solemized by a priest/notary in a church. IOW only civil unions will be allowed to exist.

The homosexuals are demonstrated liars, there is no reason to trust anything they say.

Homosexual Agenda Ping + heh heh heh heh!

Guess what, liberals, leftists, and homo-promoters!

Black people don't like having their ethnicity compared with anal sex!

As I said, heheheheh.

Many good statements, although some editing could have been employed successfully:

"With their centuries-old drive to gain equal legal rights in the United States, African Americans might be expected to be the one community most likely to accommodate the struggle of gays and lesbians for marriage rights.

But that effort, along with assertions that the push for gay marriage is a civil rights issue, instead has rubbed many African Americans the wrong way, highlighting a deep and persistent discomfort with homosexuality in the African American community.

Surveys taken around the nation and in California indicate that large percentages of African Americans disapprove of gay marriage and support a constitutional amendment banning such unions."

I hate it when a constitutional amendment protecting or defining marriage is said to "ban gay unions". Newspeak.

Le me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist. It be busy.

Thanks, calcowgirl for the ping!

Gays have always had all the civil rights that blacks had to struggle for.

If marriage was about only love and commitment, there would be some value to this discession. But marriage is to a 'ho bunch of folks about "not living in sin".

When homosexuals are allowed to marry, they will still be living in sin. So, what's the point?

notice how the media is in overdrive to make the issued SF "marriages" legitimate.

Notice the comment how he holds his sexpartner's hand in public. Again, its about makign the private homsexual sex act achieve the mantle of normalcy.

No matter how much they try no two same sex homosexuals will produce a baby within a marriage. No homosexual "adoption" will be the equivalent of one father, one mother.

Has anyone considered putting prohibitions on homosexual adoptions on referendums?

It makes the homosexual sex act legitimate. See the government says we are normal like other sex partners because we can be marriged. Now give us your children.

this homosexualizing of the civil rights movement

Great phrase!

How can a people that had to literally fight and die for their basic civil rights ever deny anyone else the same rights

What a bunch of garbage. They're not denying anyone their rights. They're laying claim to their own civil rights movement. Homosexuals can get their own movement.

But that effort, along with assertions that the push for gay marriage is a civil rights issue, instead has rubbed many African Americans the wrong way, highlighting a deep and persistent discomfort with homosexuality in the African American community.

It's not just the African American community. I don't know anyone who wants to be constantly linked to anal sex.

The homo movement would love to borrow the banner of the civil rights crusaders. But alas, the latter was a crusade of conscience; the former is not. The latter had moral weight; the former has no morality at all. In fact, it is its total LACK of morality that engenders such hostility to it. It is that same lack that prompts its advocates to cloak it in touching phrases and heart-wrenching rhetoric: "love," "compassion," "life partners" etc. ... the grammatical flourishes traditionally used to describe heterosexual relationships.

But these aren't heterosexual relationships. And no amount of legerdemain can render them so. Nor can it imbue this abomination with any moral credibility.

Furthermore, the attempt to equate it with the civil rights struggle diminishes the depth of the racial struggle. I salute blacks for rejecting the comparison.

How many "life partners" has each one of them had/have?
The answer of course makes the term all the more ludicrous.

Tee hee. Really? I've never seen a drinking fountain that said "no homosexuals allowed."

I've also never seen someone who practices homosexual sex have to go to the back of the bus either. Oh, that's right, unlike being a Black person, nobody would know if they practiced homosexual sex or not.

well it depends on your definition of committed.

it also depends on if adding a third counts.

it also depends on if affairs, in the breeder sense of the term, consitute a break from life partners.

Under the romantic notion children are supposed a manifestation of the love of a man and a woman, what the heck do homosexuals produce with their act? answer nothing.
