FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ICDC, TF ALL AMERICAN WORK TOWARD A SAFER AL ANBAR
RAMADI, Iraq -- During operations on Saturday and Sunday, Task Force All American conducted 281 patrols (including 18 joint patrols), cleared three small caches, and executed two offensive operations - cordon and searches in Iskandariyah and Ar Ramadi. Iraqi Civil Defense Corps forces also conducted 15 independent patrols.
Soldiers discovered and disarmed two improvised explosive devices before they could be detonated against coalition forces and captured eight personnel while suffering no casualties. At Trebil, 64 personnel and 53 vehicles were denied entry along with seven personnel at Husaybah - all because they lacked passports.
As of Sunday, 351 people and 12 buses have crossed back into Iraq at Ar Ar as they returned from the Hajj. To date, 20,812 people have returned from Saudi Arabia through the 82nd Airborne's area.
At 1 a.m. Sunday morning, in 3rd Brigade 82nd Airborne Division's areas of responsibility, units conducted a cordon and search in Iskandariyah to neutralize an improvised explosive device making cell and capture their equipment. The operation was conducted successfully and resulted in the capture of seven enemy personnel - including four primary targets. Among the items confiscated were IED making materials, various forms of ammunition, and bomb making instructions.
At 11 p.m. Saturday night, in 1st Brigade 1st Infantry Divisions areas of responsibility, soldiers conducted a raid of a target house in Ar Ramadi to capture Mohammed Aatiry. Aatiry is suspected of providing a safehouse and facilitating the movements of Jalil Habbush. The operation was conducted successfully and resulted in the capture of the primary target.

Keeping up the offensive tempo and taking the fight to the enemy even in the middle of all the troop changeovers--an awful lot of hard work and effort to do that--a news release can never explain how much those soldiers are doing.

There is some big news here:
"Aatiry is suspected of providing a safehouse and facilitating the movements of Jalil Habbush. The operation was conducted successfully and resulted in the capture of the primary target."
Jalil Habbush is #16, the former head of the Iraqi Intelligence Service under Saddam

A few mainstream press articles a week making an attempt to explain the hard work being done by our troops across Iraq, and to honor them for the risks taken daily - a release by a source other than the DoD - would help, though!
