January 27, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed received a visa to enter the United States weeks before the attacks even though he was under indictment for previous terrorist plots in the Philippines, it was revealed yesterday. The visa, obtained by al Qaeda's master strategist on July 23, 2001, was one of several new details of blunders made by government agencies prior to the attacks that emerged at a hearing by the independent commission probing the attacks.

Melendez testified that he turned away al-Qahtani despite being warned by co-workers he risked his job because of guidelines to treat Saudi citizens with kid gloves. I want to know who issued those guidelines, and then I want them banned from government employment for the rest of their lives.

Did you hear his testimony? It was very interesting. He said the terrorist kept switching his story.

This testimony shows that we have a government made up of incompetent as well as very competent individuals protecting our security. On the other side of the equation, we have a group of terrorists that will use any means to carry out their mission. The terrorist is going to win a majority of the time.

mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed received a visa to enter the United States weeks before the attacks even though he was under indictment for previous terrorist plots We dont need the homeland security bill, and we dont need to limit the american freedoms, and we dont need american citizens searched everywhere they go, we need to close and protect our borders, and deport all illegals that are here.

The customs agent was Hispanic, his English was "okay", but not great. But he obviously was sharper than some agents, in that he kept questioning the guy since he found his "story" to be inconsistent.

I want to know who issued those guidelines, and then I want them banned from government employment for the rest of their lives. While his Port Director or immediate Supervisor may have issued a memo tell the Orlando inspectors to treat Saudi citizens with kid gloves, no such policy existed on the National level.
