I attended this rally with the lovely incindiary. If any other Freepers were there, please share your thoughts.

The early rally featured Teens for Life and other wonderful youth groups. The future is in good hands with these thoughtful, wonderful kids.

The noon rally featured a variety of groups, including representatives from Silent No More, the young lady in the above article who was talked out of abortion by a sidewalk counselor with her tear-filled testimony, and decent politicians on the right side of this issue like Dennis Mountjoy.

Afterwards we marched once around the capitol and then had a peaceful march in front of a near-by Planned (Un)Parenthood. The youngsters sang a number of songs including "Jesus loves the little children." They were so awesome.

Wonder how many "Catholic" legislators voted to celebrate Roe v. Wade? I'll bet there were more than a few.

Thanks for the Ping. Great report.

Do you have an estimate as to the overall crowd? I spoke with a friend who was there and has gone many years for the past 25. He said he thought it was much less than in recent years.

I'd agree that the crowd was less than one that I attending in, I think, 2000. This year's was on the north side of the capitol whereas in years past they've been on the west side, which is the usual main venue for demonstrations (roomier, better sunlight).

The estimate at top said 1000 but there didn't seem to be 1000 at any one time. Maybe a few hundred. The earlier crowd seemed bigger than the initial noontime crowd. I think there was a lot of splintering with some rallying on the sidewalks by the traffic, others in workshops, etc.

Yep, I went with CounterCounterCulture and it was so great to be there! I was really happy to see so many young people there... groups like Project 33, Teens for Life, etc. It's so cool that this generation is seeing the abortion issue differently than the previous generation. They see it not as a women's rights issue, but as a human rights issue. Like Alan said, these young people were wonderful, and it's great news that the trend is going away from abortion.

Thanks for posting this, CCC!

Hey Gary! Sorry I didn't promote this event better. I posted this on the California page the night before, but wish I had pinged ya before then to give you time to prep. For some reason pro-life events are poorly promoted outside of active churches on this matter. I do have a SanFran ping list and need to build one for Sac-a-tomatoes. Would have been "grate" to see ya. Hee-hee. I should have a good shot of Cindy when I get around to developing them. You'll just have to suffer until then.

What do ya think Cindy, shall we hold out for mucho money? :-D

BTW, I'll pencil in Santa Rosa for now. Please feel free to ping me when you get around to it.
