The President today announced his next choice for Housing and Urban Development Secretary, Alphonso Jackson in the Roosevelt Room in the White House. Mr. Jackson is replacing Mel Martinez who resigned last week. Laura spent the morning at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, where she read to sick children, and watched the premiere showing of “BarneyCam II: Barney Reloaded” with them. Some goodies tonight, so enjoy your Daily Dose of Dubya!!

My Mom and I waitressed for many years, and yes, I know the type!

He's an ankle biter, I tell ya!

He looks unstable to me..

All his reactions in public seem rehearsed..it is as if he is not sure how to behave and gets his clues by watching other people..

Really spooky..

Maybe it's because I was a waitress for so long, but Dean reminds me of a guy who flirts continuously with you, makes inappropriate remarks the entire time you are around him, and then pretends he doesn't know you when he brings his wife in for dinner!

Dean a ladies man??

Now that is creepy

I respect all of you way too much to share what I wrote in that letter, but if I was to break it down it would be like this.

I told him in no uncertain terms how much I objected to his use of the names of our fallen heroes in his political Ad. that wasn't based in anything even close to resembling the facts. I explained to him in a not so polite way that he owes the families of these heroes an apology for prostituting the ultimate sacrifice paid by their children in the defense of their country.

I then went on to explain to him that he is a socialist of the highest order and although I wished him no harm, but I would pay big money to his campaign if he would fly to Baghdad and play that advertisement in front a large gathering of the 82nd Airborne or the 4th ID without any bodyguards. My final comment was to ask him what kind of drugs is he loading in that pipe he is smoking, because for him to think he can just pull our troops out of Iraq and replace them with U.N. Troops is a trip down fantasy lane that would make Michael Jackson a voice of reason

I see Howard Dean as a man who isn't smooth enough to flirt with anyone but the cross dressing liberal he sees in the mirror every morning. Plus! I believe flirting with the opposite sex would violate his oathe to uphold the Metro-Sexual guidelines for acceptable behavior :-)

That's really beautiful. The author captured in poetry what I feel about the President. Thanks for posting it.

Thank you so much for linking to that beautiful poem about our wonderful president -- I also enjoyed reading the glowing comments written by other Bush supporters.

BTW: Did you read Glenn Beck's action plan for Bush supporters with websites:

GOOGLE BOMBING
Last Update: December 9, 2003

Google is unique among search engines in that while it almost always shows you pages that have the exact keywords you are looking for, occasionally it will show you pages that don't have those keywords, but other pages linked to that page with those words.

In a bizarre surreal bow to the power of perception on the web, what you say about a page becomes just as important as the actual content of the page. The page must be what other people say it is. That Google adheres to this rule and is by far the most effective search engine raises many interesting issues, none of which we will attempt to discuss or explicate.

Now Google is smart, simply having tons of the same links with the same phrase on a single page will do nothing. It requires a multitude of pages to have that link with specific link text. But this power can be harnessed with a concentrated group effort.

And it must be harnessed, and for one very important goal: make Michael "Miserable Failure" Moore come up first when people do a search for "Miserable Failure."

Here's how you can join in the google bombing fun:

1. Get a web site. If you already have a web site, you can skip this step. If not go to Geocities, Angelfire or wherever, it doesn't matter. Everyone has something to say blah blah blah personal expression yadda yadda (or maybe a nice Glenn Beck fan site, not like this one). Just remember the Google bombing.

2. Whenever you update your site, which should be approximately three to five times a week, be sure to include the following HTML at some point: [Go to glenn beck's website for the HTML code: http://www.glennbeck.com/home/index.shtml]

3. Add your site to Google.

4. Wait for the magic to happen! Soon, whenever you type in miserable failure into google, you'll see Michael "Miserable Failure" Moore's greasy fat face smiling right back at you.

TNt just reported that Sgt Santos leaves Mon for a VA hospital...great news!

She handed out all the stuff you gave her and all the guys were thrilled.

The Red Cross was closed at WR at 3:30 so she didn't get to volunteer.

..going to lay down again...yuck

I completely agree with your analysis of the Democrat Party and its impending implosion -- it couldn't happen to a 'nicer' (heavy sarcasm) group of people! [I'm only hoping that right-wing zealots don't succeed in doing something similar -- albeit on a more inconsequential scale -- to the Republican Party!]

BTW: Remember to let me know when you determine where I can donate to best help our recovering troops! Kudos for all that you are doing in this regard!!

No, it's a VA hospital in Ohio somewhere...it looks like if you can't walk to the RC office, you are out of luck!

Did anyone else get the card?

I did, and it was a pleasant surprise.

I "only" handed out 24 cards in Orthopedics and a restricted ward but they cheerfully let me in when I showed them what I had - I just couldn't touch anything, and 16 in Neuroscience.

I discovered that these guys are desperate for some company - someone to talk to, someone to pray for and with them, someone to just BE there. When I would walk into their room, they would have this dour look on their face; when I left, they were smiling. This takes time - so I didn't get to anywhere but Wards 57 and 58 on the 5th floor.

I'm going back tonight and tomorrow afternoon (in the case of Sunday, if the weather lets me.)

I was sort of unprepared for the weight of what Mike had to give me - the pads of paper, pens, pencils and Christmas cards!!! Yesterday, I made it my mission to hand out as many phone cards as I could - and I tell you - the guys in Orthopedics would have done handstands if they could have, they were overjoyed.

I have made it a point at every Nurse's station to emphasize how much is waiting for the guys down in the Red Cross office. I get a pretty blank look, and something like "that's nice to know". - I just didn't know what to do with their response. I think this is why I really need to volunteer at the RC office - but it was closed by the time I made my way to it. I considered visiting with the guys and handing out phone cards my priority yesterday.

As I arrived, I saw Sgt. Santos in a wheelchair being pushed by his wife; they were heading for physical therapy. He told me he's leaving on Monday, 12/16. He's headed for a VA Hospital in Ohio, closer to his home for continued therapy. He's back to thinking he wants to stay in - KEEP PRAYING!

I had missed Ricardo Diaz, but got his address at the VA Hospital where he is now and will send him some of the phonecards that Mike gave me - courtesy of an anonymous FReeper.

I was unprepared for the weight of the items that Mike handed me - and I can't carry a heavy box like that, without risking back damage. When I go back, I'll be prepared with a thick cloth bag and one of those plastic grocery bags, to carry the items in, and make more like an elf again. They are going to love these items as well. And I'll try to get in and out faster, but golly, when they seem so eager to have someone to talk to, it's hard to just give them the stuff and split!

Whoever the anonymous donor is, I would like to thank them for giving me the joy of being able to do what I did yesterday. And to Mike, for buying more pads, pens and cards because he discovered what a hit they were - thank you. I have had the prvilege of seeing these faces, with joy and gratitude written all over them.

Mike, I have a suggestion. I don't have a color printer but if you'd care to print out some of the Canteens, especially from Vet's Day and Thanksgiving, and take them to show them who we are, they love it. I had printed out some of the Galloway thread by way of explaining "who we are", and some of the posts on the Dose. They don't know about us and they sure don't know how much Americans support them. I guess all of them must have been only able to see CNN - and think most Americans are against this war and THEM. That's the important part - we must make it clear that we support their efforts, of eliminating one tyrant at a time, and THEM.

I have more to say, and still have to write up a trip report for the Galloway thread, but I need to leave to finish up for my business especially if we are going to get hit with that "Wintry mix" tomorrow. I don't travel on the roads around here because there are so many furreners from the Sooth who just don't know how to drive in snow and sleet, and either drive too fast (mostly SUV's who think they are immune) and the others who drive too slowly. (If any of you are transplants to this area from the South, forgive me. It's been my experience that Louisianans (sp?) made asy - those from Louisiana, and those from Kentucky just don't know how to drive here.)

Time to leave.

I have the biggest grin on my face, thinking about how thrilled those guys were to get the phonecards yesterday. Everyone of the them in Orthopedics were from somewhere else than this area, and they desperately needed those cards to keep in touch with family.

Goal? Hits floors 3,4, and 6 this weekend.
