Problem with your assessment is, Eminem is not known for his "voice" he's not a singer.
As a lyricist and in terms of his "flow"(different styles of intonation, etc) and imagination he is far superior to the industry-fed "rap" stars like Nelly. One of the reasons Eminem is popular is because he doesn't go on and on about "bling" and "hoes" and partying. Instead, like it or not, he skewers sacred cows(including a number of those of the left) and defies convention and stirs up "trouble." He does so with quite a bit of skill.
He is a lot more talented than technology(and image) driven stars like Britney.
As for real talent? Well, compared to a girl I went to HS with who is now a well-known violinist(and was a prodigy) even those YOU view as talented would pale in comparison.
Heck, lots of people don't like Prince but the man is(or at least WAS) a genius who learned to play 24 instruments by ear, was a prolific composer and possessed a true falsetto. But you probably would look down on someone like that.

Sorry, folks. It's a publicity stunt, plain and simple. I'd be even willing to bet that if the heat starts rising about this, he'll just say, "I said "I'd rather see the
precedent dead," refering to why people think I rap, and someone messed up when they were printing out the lyrics to my song."
Anyone else think this?

We all know prodigies. So what?

Wishing President Bush dead is skill?

"He does so with quite a bit of skill."
Based on the few songs of his I've heard on the radio, I agree. I don't like his music--but there is something quite different about it.
And I agree with the posts above that calling attention to this lyric will be self-defeating, that his fans won't care and the resulting publicity will only result in increased sales.
