Iceland was first settled in the late 9th century. But was not occupied the entire time since then. So you call that indigenous people? I dont know.
Iceland could use some new management. Under Danish rule its people suffer under high unemployment, high rates of alcoholism and high rates of suicide.
Development of Iceland is picking up but most of the new jobs are being filled from abroad.
If we buy the territory from the Danish is that taking
Actually it was settled well before that by Intuit peoples from what is now Alaska and Canada but those settlements didnt last. The Thule people are the ancestors of the current Greenlandic population and they also came from Alaska around 1300.
Bottom line is that no one there was truly indigenous.
I think you meant Greenland, Iceland is its own country since 930 A.D.
Meanwhile, Tiffany would be loudly upset at any reference to "the indigenous people of Europe" being colonized by Africa and Asia.
I’m so naive and in the dark that I didn’t know anything that big was for sale anymore.
I wonder what it would cost.
I have a bank account in the thousands that is growing!! :)
The Louisiana Purchase and Seward’s Folly worked out OK. DJT is not the first POTUS to make this suggestion (think FDR, among others). From the few interviews I saw of Greenlanders, they want to stay with the Danish and the Danish aren’t interested in selling. But when/if they need protection, who, I wonder, will the Greenlanders turn to ?
