Trump: Biden's not as smart as Bernie
The Politico ^ | May 2, 2019 | Katie Galioto

President Donald Trump on Wednesday waded once again into the 2020 Democratic primary, telling a Boston radio show that former Vice President Joe Biden is "not as smart as" Sen. Bernie Sanders and slamming the campaign of Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

In a phone call to Boston Herald Radio that lasted almost 20 minutes, Trump launched his now-familiar attack on “Sleepy Joe’s” intelligence and complained Warren (D-Mass.) should resign after she called for Attorney General William Barr to step down earlier Wednesday.

Asked which primary candidate posed the greatest threat to his election, Trump was apparently unconcerned. When probed about the former vice president specifically, Trump called Biden a “sleepy man” and proceeded to bash his endorsement from the International Association of Fire Fighters on Monday.

“In many ways, I like him,” Trump said of Biden. “He’s not as smart as Bernie [Sanders]. And he’s not as quick.”

The president’s comments came despite urgings from some of his top advisers — including his son-in-law, Jared Kushner — to stay out of primary politics. Some believe Trump’s repeated jabs at Democrats, particularly Biden, are at best a waste of time. At worst, the president’s aides fear Trump's criticisms might provide fuel to the former vice president’s campaign that could propel him into the general election with strong momentum.

Still, the president continued his insults of individual challengers.

“The firefighters are going be voting for me. So are the police. So are the military,” Trump said, dismissing union leaders as “dues-sucking people.”

DJT is likely attempting to bait Biden into a Fredo Corleone “I’m smart” rant. Will be fun to see if it works.

Trump launched his now-familiar attack...

They ever say that about any of obama’s tiresome mantras?

Or that bill clinton launched one of his now familiar rapes? or murders?

For better or worse, mostly better in hindsight, this trait of Trump’s is not going to go away. It’s just how he is. He won a very improbable victory in 2016 doing this very thing to his opponents, Republican and Democrat alike. Cringe if it makes you cringe, but leave him be.

Starting to sew dissent into the ranks of the enemy. Love it.

Today’s feel good story: President Trump is not listening to his advisors, including Little Lord Fauntleroy.

Trump is a ‘brand’ that arose out of the political ashes of the past thirty years. No one believes in Washington solutions, the marginal leadership from both parties, the bias or fakeness of the news media, etc. This fed-up mentality of people simply saw some light of ‘change’ existing and identified with Trump. I think the same pattern existed in 1992 with Ross Perot. I think if Perot’s goal had been to win, instead of just gaming the system and taking Bush’s votes away....we would have done eight years of Perot.

You can go around to Blacks now (2.5 years into this period) and find that among black men...it’s doubled up on pro-Trump enthusiasm (much less so with black women).

The jobs talk has all come true. The get-tough policy on China has been evolving. The border stance continues on. Whether people like Trump or not....the national vote (thirty-plus states) seems to be still solid for 2020, and we will get another four years of Trumpism.

But Bernie is not as sane as Sleepy Joe. Joe speaks to Maggie Thatcher, but Bernie is over 40 and still believes in socialism. You be the judge.

Biden has lost more than a step. And his handlers want to keep Joe away from questions by the press, They know Joe can’t take a punch. Trump has taken on the top two contenders everyone else is chopped liver. Except for Warren he really likes needling her. Trump loves taunting from the 50 yard line down to the end zone. I have never seen a president mix it up like this guy.

Both Sanders and Biden haven’t a lick of pragmatism between the two of them.

I have a tennis ball that’s smarter than Biden...

And I thought 2016 was fun...Trump should get “Entertainer of the Year” for his campaign style...

Now watch democrats start whining he’s not doing his job, sits there on his phone posting Biden insults...that’s one of their favorite lines, when does he find time to do his job he’s always tweeting...they will never, ever admit he gets more done by noon than they do all week...

And I have no doubt he’s still 3 steps ahead of them all...

This is Donald Trump...ummm...President Donald Trump... playing 3D chess while they learn to play checkers.

Hahaha...poor Uncle Joe, his mental capability being compared unfavorably to Comrade Bernie.

That’s gonna leave a mark!
