It informally started week before this (9/18/17) article, due to end in “early December.” Three months!
I’m elderly in WI and just got my ID renewal notice. Free if you don’t drive. $28 if you do drive. You can do the paperwork online or in person. Over 65 and just for voting, you can get a perpetually valid free card via online application.
No one, even in my rural county, can live w/o an ID today. You need it for everything. The Ds just want no ID so illegals and out-of-staters can vote.
Once upon a time, we had people out here who were illiterate. Couldn’t sign their own name. People who had never traveled more than 10 miles from their birthplace. People who had been to Madison (90 miles) once in their lives. The stores stocked counter checks. You could pay by signing your X and it would be deducted from your bank account. Everyone knew everyone. Today, the Walmart where I shop all the time and have for decades will ask for my ID once a year and update my file. If I pay with an account that’s different from my usual, I need to show ID.
Those old-timers are now all gone and have been for years. Our townships are tiny. The election workers know everyone. The cards are a formality except in the few larger cities/university towns. Most fraud comes from university students. We all know this. Hillary lies (as usual).
