Republicans rip media, praise Trump Charlottesville leadership
The Palm Beach Post ^ | August 18, 2017 | George Bennett

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and other prominent Republicans have faulted President Donald Trump’s response to the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., but there was little criticism — and even some praise — for Trump’s handling of the issue when more than 400 activists, donors and candidates gathered Thursday for a GOP dinner outside Boca Raton.

There has been some “chaos and turmoil” of late, Palm Beach County Republican Chairman Michael Barnett acknowledged to the crowd at the party’s annual Lobsterfest event at the Polo Club. But, Barnett added, “God is on his throne, Republicans are in charge and Mr. Trump, our president, is in the Oval Office doing one heck of a job.”

Part-time Palm Beach resident Trump initially blamed “many sides” for the violence in Charlottesville, then on Monday specifically condemned “the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups.”

On Tuesday, however, Trump drew fire for saying in a news conference that “there’s blame on both sides” and that there were some “very fine people” among those protesting the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Barnett, the only black county GOP chairman in Florida and the state’s only black delegate at the 2016 Republican convention, said Trump has satisfactorily condemned prejudice and bigotry.

“He’s right to criticize both sides, where the hate’s coming from,” Barnett said in an interview. “He’s, in my mind, clearly condemned the hate that’s being spewed by these neo-Nazis, these Klansmen who wave the Confederate flag. I don’t know what more people could ask in the way of a response.”

U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Palm Coast, credited Trump with “leadership” and said the president’s “both sides” remarks don’t dilute his criticism of white supremacists.....

Of course it’s helping him. Normal people hate ANTIFA/BLM, as well as monument bashing.

Separation of the sheep from the goats, separation of the wheat from the tares.

Yep as polling data shows; removing the historical monuments is a disaster for the dems and left. ANTIFA and BLM are only heroes to the radical left establishment and media. They don’t get it.

Yes.

Its helping to separate the sheep from the goats like little Marco, Juan McCain, the Flake, the two Bushes, Romney, etc.

“On Tuesday, however, Trump drew fire for saying in a news conference that “there’s blame on both sides” and that there were some “very fine people” among those protesting the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. “

Leave the damn statues ALONE, dammit. They are part of American history - heroes to some, villains to others perhaps. Now they are targeting Washington. Soon it will be the American Flag. This is NOT about “Confederate Sympathizers” Its about people who want to totally destroy our culture, history and identity as a nation.

The only time Democrats say that all sides are equally to blame is when some Democrat gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar, or a live boy or a dead girl. Even then, they refuse to take responsibility for their actions.

My wife knows people with the Orange County Women’s Republican Party and has participated from time to time. They are virtually 100% behind President Trump.

Absolutely. I think even a lot of liberals are against the removal/destruction of monuments.

Can only help. People attacking statues look nuts. The statues are dead. In many cases the people involved with initially erecting the statue have died. So they are more or less attacking dead people and dead issues. We just need to claim the moral high ground and leave statues alone. They mean nothing in the long run.

I remember one of the mantras coming from Bill Clinton’s campaign in 1992, which frankly was somewhat successful was that the Repubs were out of touch with the American people. Hate to say it but Slick Willie was on to something. The Repub LEADERSHIP is woefully out of touch with their own base. Especially this pissing contest they’re in as to who’s best at virtue signalling their meaningless criticisms of Pres Trump’s responses to the Charlottesville incident.

There are a lot of gatherings this weekend around statues all over the country.

Dallas, Houston, Boston, and California have planned events.
Those are the ones I know of.

Both sides are going to show up. It wouldn’t surprise me if more violence happens if the cops decide not to intervene.

It is helping him. I saw a tweet from Hugh Hewitt today...he said Trump popularity in CAGOP going up.

I thought Hewitt was a NT? If this is so popular why are they removing statues in the middle of the night?

Rubio led the last Gang of Amnesty, but he isn’t up until 2022, along with Murkowsky and Hoeven. We have to wait to remove them.

His fellow traitors, Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake are up in 2018. They MUST go!

Graham and Alexander in 2020.

... first it was the flag, then it was free speak and assembly, now it’s statues, murals, memorials, and their crown jewel will be abolishing the Constitution, their revolution won’t end with just this though.

In one fell swoop the Democrats lost the South, the Border States and much of the West for at least a generation. What kind of retards run that party?
