Somebody bring the author a paper bag to breathe into, he's hyperventilating. The principal issue with the Bernie-to-the-rescue scenario is that
Bernie isn't a Democrat anymore. Another is that early voting has already begun in North Carolina and about to in Alabama.
HERE is a calendar of early voting by state. And Bernie's not on the ballot. Certainly the Dems could try to redirect any Hillary votes his way but if he's going to be their go-to guy to beat Trump his name needs to be on the ballot.
I doubt it will happen, myself, unless somebody drives a stake through Her Heinous's heart while she's resting in her nightly coffin.

On November 8, the voters will cast their ballots for a slate of electors, who will do the electing of the next president and vice president when they meet in their respective state capitals in December. If the plurality of voters in a state choose to vote Democrat, these loyal Democrat electors can be instructed to vote for anyone the party wants, and almost all of them will likely comply.

The way I understand is that it doesn’t matter who is on ticket. If someone votes for Hillary!/Kaine, they voted for the Democrat presidential ticket and that is how the electors will vote, no matter who is on the Democrat ticket.
So, it doesn’t matter if Hillary! withdraws or dies. The Democrat ticket remains.
I kind of like that - it means the system is fault tolerant - losing a candidate in the middle of the election doesn’t break the process.
