The debate expectations game. A busy October for President Obama. And a curious New Hampshire visit from a former presidential candidate.
These stories and more are a part of the Inside Politics forecast this week.
1) Team Clinton tries to raise the debate bar
Hillary Clintons campaign has an eye on the 2000 presidential race as it tries to frame the expectations for her upcoming debates with Donald Trump.
Back then, Democrats think they made a mistake by ridiculing George W. Bush and suggesting he wasnt up to the task of debating Al Gore. When Bush did better than expected, it diminished Gores standing.
Fast forward 16 years, and Team Clinton wants a different outcome. Julie Pace of the Associated Press reports the Clinton campaign is determined to set a higher bar for Trump heading into the first debate next month.

I thought the main strategy for “Mrs Pickles” was plain ol’ avoidance. d;^)
This is how they will spin/excuse the horrendous performances everyone knows she is going to give.
Which will bring the obvious they wont ask - if she cant handle the pressure of debating unpolished non-pol outsider Trump, and sucking big time, how the hell will she handle being president?
I am expecting her to request a lot of bathroom breaks during the debates. The less TV face time she gets the better her chances of “knocking it out of the park” with a bunt for her toads in the national “media”.
It’s ALWAYS been about selling low expectations for “your” candidate and high expectations for the opponent. Ever since Kennedy/Nixon this has been the tactic.
When she has a seizure on national TV, the game will be over
... and since she had that last one just in July, there’s too much risk allowing her to be on live television - that’s why she only does private events and pre-taped interviews now, when she isn’t hiding at home - so Team Clinton will HAVE to come up with some excuse to avoid the debates ....
Damn that is irritating
I know. I’m sure it’s a FR first. I couldn’t resist the experiment. :-)
That strobe isn’t good for a lot of people. Just saying.
Prediction:
No matter how Trump or the lying criminal do at the debates, the DNC media will pronounce her the resounding winner and make fun of Trump.
She is resting up and comes debate night she will have the best drug regimen //Botx//Cosmetics//weight loss that money can buy
She will look like a rejuvenated woman
You missed the point of why I posted it. Poor baby.
No, I didn’t.
Stupid and lazy.
Good night sir, go get some rest.
