Meet Trump’s Pennsylvania supporters: Stop caricaturing his fans.

They operate heavy machinery. They Uber. They gush over the Olympics. Their friends are Bernie Sanders supporters. They’re on the local baseball team. Yes, they want to make America great again, but Donald Trump’s supporters contain multitudes. They are not, on the whole, the white-devil, frothing Confederate fanatics baffled columnists have made them out to be. So who is Team Trump, really? We met up with locals waiting in line to attend a Trump rally in Altoona, Pa., where the population is 93.8 percent white (as opposed to the national proportion of 77.1 percent), and discussed the colony at Jamestown, non-theoretical nuclear war and George Washington’s personal Koran. Here’s what we found:

They’re skeptical

Bridget Rae, 20, college student, Hollidaysburg: It’s kind of like, whoa, is this person even real? So I’m going to find the real person, hopefully.

Chris Smith, 28, sales, Altoona: He’s playing this very strategic game, and he’s kinda doing it in an unorthodox way, and I was pretty game until I read something that he said about “why don’t we use our nukes?” He asked someone three times, you know? And I have a daughter that’s 6 months old. And it’s like, you said that out loud? You actually said that out loud? And so now I think, do I want to enable something like that? If you’ve got a problem: hellfire missile, whatever. But a nuke?

Preston Shoemaker, 16, high school junior, Altoona: Personally, I could’ve heard more from him on the point of maybe environmental stuff.

Rae: I go to a small liberal arts college, so that’s a very concentrated area of Democrats. I thought it was interesting that the Republicans on campus were, kind of ironically, not treated in a way that you would think that liberal people would treat people....

Yeah, no shit. We’re finished with it too. Dems are vicious snakes.

Yeah, but the very fact that they're even writing this article, shows that they can't hide Trump's support anymore.

I think after Labor Day, Trump is going to go for the kill.

If Hillary doesn't get incapacitated for health reasons first. That appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! didn't convince many people, particularly since Hillary was essentially sitting down the entire interview and we know about the faked pickle jar opening....

Spent a lot of time growing up in central Penna - Lancaster, Hershey, Mifflin, Port Royal - wonderful people, beautiful country - quintessential America - they’ll know who to vote for, and it won’t be Hillary.....

At this point why would we believe almost from any media outlet - and the polling this year its more than wacky.

When the news and reality don't align in your life you can be pretty sure you are getting fed propaganda

Why are we being fed propaganda - because it works. Why do we need to be fed it, because the truth is Hillary is a terrible Jeb Bush like candidate her support is lukewarm a mile wide and an inch deep and she isn't gaining voters she is loosing them.

And now they are all super paranoid.

One of the big challenges in life is when to be hard and when to be soft - watch Trump as you are watching a master.

Enjoy!

Excellent point, but I hope your faith in him executing this is justified; I pray we are correct.

It will take a huge turnout in the rural and bible belt areas of Pa. to counter the zombie-like Democrats marching to the polls in Philly, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. My hope is that the lack of the enthusiasm level for Hillary in those precincts in the cities will limit turnout and give the state to Trump.

I currently live in PA and I can tell you there is massive support for Trump, at least in areas outside the big cities.

Although even in urban areas, I’m seeing support for Trump. Just yesterday in a smaller city I saw the word “Trump” spray painted on a big concrete pipe that construction crews had on the side of the road. I assume one of them sprayed it on there, as they had the pipe angled to face oncoming traffic so everyone could see.

It’s encouraging, and out in rural areas I see Trump signs in a lot of people’s yards...including my own :)

Hopefully Hillary won’t see the massive urban turnout that Obama had in the past, since she isn’t exactly the type to relate to many of those voters. Although most do vote for any Democrat, the enthusiasm for her just isn’t there.
