What Happens If Hillary Clinton Is Indicted? Bernie Sanders Might Not Benefit
Bustle ^ | June 7, 2016 | Joseph D. Lyons

With the Associated Press calling the Democratic presidential race for Clinton, and the polls for the last primaries in her favor, you might think that there's nothing that could derail her campaign. But there is. It may be a long shot, but it's definitely something Sanders supporters have been praying for as a last-minute Hail Mary: an indictment from the FBI over the private email server Clinton used while secretary of state. The FBI is currently investigating the matter, and if they find evidence that she broke the Espionage Act, they could prosecute. So what happens if Hillary Clinton is indicted?

At this point, only a few diehard Sanders supporters — and some on the right — see this as a possibility. H. A. Goodman, a Huffington Post columnist and Sanders supporter, laid out his case for Clinton's indictment Monday, arguing that she inadvertently broke the law by transferring 22 top-secret emails to her private server, even though they were not marked classified when they were first sent back in 2008. He argues that "'gross negligence' is enough to prosecute," especially in light of the State Department's report that Clinton did not have approval for the private server and was in conflict with new rules put in place in 2009, when she took office.

That would thrill some Sanders-or-bust supporters. The New York Times ran a piece on them, noting that some would even vote for Trump over Clinton. Others promised to vote for a third-party candidate. What they had in common was a hope that an FBI indictment would hand Sanders the nomination. But it's not that simple. Even if Clinton is indicted, that doesn't mean Sanders would become the Democratic nominee....

The real problem behind the scenes is possibly that all parties are struggling how to appear truthful and fair and avoid any serious repercussions for Hillary. I don't envy the FBI or that judge who rebuked her.

No matter how it turns out, a lot of people are going to be boiling, raging mad.

Bernie already said at one of the debates that he was “sick and tired of hearing about Hillary’s damn e-mails”.

I bet he wishes he could take that back now and that he had stuck it to her about her horrendous record in securing classified info and all because of her selfishness.

Now he has only himself to blame because he passed on a golden opportunity.

Why hasn’t she been indicted. You and I would if we did a smidgen of what she is involved with.

The FBI is currently investigating the matter, and if they find evidence that she broke the Espionage Act, they could prosecute.

There is no doubt, absolutely no doubt whatsoever she broke the law. The only task is to quantify the damage, determine who aided and abetted her, and who-else is guilty of similar gross negligence and deserving of indictment, trial, and prison.

Somehow, Comey could have packaged together enough to seek an indictment from Justice, before Hillary became the nominee, if they really thought they had her.

I can’t imagine torturing the voters by delaying this outcome for all this time. Even Comey announced a determination to be expected in May.

Very discouraging signs.

She’s more likely to get nailed by a meteorite than she is to get indicted (by Obama’s people).

You misunderstand the socialist movement.

I don’t believe the majority of American voters are ready for hard core socialism.

How many voters know bernie is a socialist?

We know he passed on it intentionally from what he said.
Whether he was a shill or not is another matter and one well worth considering.

I think he may end up on the ticket if Clinton’s people think it will help her.

Just imagine if a Republican were accused of doing even a quarter of all the treason this witch has done. They'd already be sitting in a federal prison.

Yup, all Bernie’s supporters have been slapped in the face. I hope it turns many of them off on Hillary.

On a side note, when I was at the voting precinct this afternoon I overheard what looked like a father and son walking out after voting. The dad was saying quite enthusiastically to his son “Can you feel the Bern? Can you? Can you feel the Bern” Well, me being me I just couldn’t help saying “Well, I guess that’s better then being buried under the Hill”

For the millennials, indoctrinated in today’s “schools”, and graduating dumb as rocks, they simply don’t care. They’ve been prepped for free crap, and that’s all they care about. They’ll be running the socialist utopia in a few years. We should be functioning like Venezuela by then.

Agree about schools.

At my daughter’s school everyone young and old wants us to feel the bern.
