I’m not saying they are my choices but I think it’s going to be Kasich (most likely) or Rubio.

Have you thought about changing your screen name?

No candidate has to return donations after dropping out, so your first thought is incorrect.
Shrewd judge of character? If he was, he shouldn't have chosen his campaign manager who got arrested. That guy is clueless.
Whatever you may think, it appears Ben Carson is in Trump's inner circle. I'm not certain why that is, either.

No one knows who he is. Trump needs someone with name recognition who has Washington experience. Hunter would be fine, but he is very low on the name recognition scale.
At the moment, Kasich may be helpful to Trump mainly because of Kasich's strength in Ohio, but Kasich is near the bottom of my list. He would be an awful choice.

Stupidly. Press ginned up this story. Carson never revealed names. Whole story is a scam.

Former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson inadvertently . . . I don't believe it was inadvertent. It looked more like a trial balloon: name some names, and see how people react. Deniability makes it harmless and allows Trump to collect information on what people want to see.

Purposeful leak to gauge the reaction to the names as he vets out his short list - he’s more astute than many give him credit for - he wants a winning ticket.

Carson is likable and useful - he also has areas of experience where he can be rewarded and where he can do a bang up job.

I absolutely agree; Indeed, I would want Trump if he is so inclined to make great use of the man, and nothing I posted was meant to denigrate Carson. However he comes from a different galaxy than Trump, temperament-wise and style-wise so I would like him to acclimate some, a little better than he likely has at this exact moment. Maybe Carson has to go to Trump U, LOL.

No arguments with what you say about Carson.
