A First: GOP Leaders Like Trump Speech
RealClear Politics ^ | 04/28/2016 | Rebecca Berg

If Donald Trump has begun to refer to himself as the “presumptive” Republican nominee, the positive reaction Wednesday by some party leaders and strategists to his foreign policy address seemed to affirm that notion.

Speaking from prepared remarks in Washington, D.C. — an unusual format and setting for the bombastic outsider candidate — Trump described U.S. foreign policy under President Obama and, by extension, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as “a complete and total disaster.”

I agree. Wonder just what job Newt would be good for. Probably just a Senior Advisor deal I suppose.

The politicians of the Republican Establishment have read the proverbial Handwriting on the Wall.

They are above all politicians. They don't want to be left behind.

Ronald Reagan was right when he observed that the second oldest profession (politics) is remarkably similar to the oldest.

Trump will have little difficulty herding those mediocrities into the corral. He knows what they want and how to give them enough of it to keep them in line.

His intellect towers over theirs--and easily over the Democrats'. Hillary's, Obama's, and even Bill Clinton's intelligence cannot approach Trump's.

Defeating Hillary, of course, is the first order of business now, but he must also focus on electing Republicans to Congress. Whether establishment or not, Trump will know how to deal with them.

Trump said we would all faint if we knew the people who are calling him on the phone wanting to get on board the Trump train. Some things never change.

VP’s are needed to win states in the electoral college. He is a non starter. Either Kasich(Ohio) or Rubio(Florida) will get the nod. They also have delegates to help push him over the edge if needed for the nomination.
I think you will see Trump laying off Kasich 100% from here on. Heck, Kasich is actually helping Trump by staying in the race. He sucks more votes from Cruz than Trump.

[I think you will see Trump laying off Kasich 100% from here on]

Kasich needs to remind Kasich how Cruz stabbed him in the back not once (last week’s alliance), but twice (Fiorina alliance and call to drop out).

The ultimate payback and revenge against UntrusTED.
Trump can then name Kasich as White House food taster.

The coattails issue will be front and center in the not too distant future. It will make his job considerably easier if he is successful at sweeping in a healthy majority in both the Senate and House. In 1980 Reagan's coattails saw 12 Senate seats change from demorat to republican.

“I understand Trump was invited to give the speech.”

I can honestly say, I haven’t heard a speech like that since President Reagan was with us. Totally understandable, and no need for the political TV genius’ to explain to us lesser lights what was said. That is what made President Reagan so popular, he talked to the people, not to the political jerks.

Eric is extremely savvy but he doesn’t know where all the DC bodies are buried.

My guess is the Trump kids will be running the empire while dad’s president. Not that I’d have any problem with them working in the administration.

Newt is an idea man. He would make a lousy chief of staff. He is 72 to old to be VP. Now Rubio maybe, Kasick I don’t think so. Kasick is for all practical purposes a democrat. Christy, maybe. Carson, maybe. But I expect Trump to surprise us with is VP pick. Woman, minority likely. I’m betting woman. If he goes Sarah heads all over the country will explode.

I totally disagree with your analysis with exceptions for Governor Sarah Palin. . Mr. Gingrich is a practical man who passed the Contract with America.
Mr. Gingrich is not a viable opponent for Mr. Trump in a future campaign. Newt is too old and has too much baggage to run against Mr Trump.
Mr. Gingrich is life insurance for Mr. Trump. If Mr. Trump gets aced and then the Uniparty deals with Newt with a raging majority. Who Hoo!!
Mr. Gingrich knows where the bathrooms are in the White House and Congress, and where the bodies are buried. And could step in as President without a major political or ideological glitch.
Newt has been screwed and has a hard on for a lot of people I do not like.
Newt is like Mr. Trump only without the ability to sue the ass off his slimy opponents and their shyster lawyers.Mr Trump may get these slimes disbarred Like Mr. Clinton.

The guy who introduced Trump said that they either have or they will invite all the other candidates. (I am too lazy to go listen to it again, to be accurate as to whether he said ALL the candidates, or just the Republican candidates.)
