Bombay? Try Matanzas Cuba! It’s just as warm and very humid, thanks!

I’m doing a piece on Rafael Bienvenido Cruz who was born in Cuba. Trying to separate the fiction from the facts. Cruz claims that as a youth in Cuba he joined the Cuban Revolution an organization of pro-Communist youths, in support of Fidel Castro against Fulgencio Batista. I suppose this explains why he endearingly called his son, ‘Felito’-lil Fidel, throughout his childhood.

Rafael also claims that after being captured and tortured by the Batista regime he decided to leave Cuba. Rafael has stated that a family friend bribed an official from the Batista government and was thereby able to get an exit visa to leave Cuba to attend college. Which places Rafael instantly at UT Austin bypassing the admissions process. ....Stay tuned, need to fetch my morning cafe con leche.

Felito is not a nickname for Fidel. It’s a nickname for Rafael. You know, little Rafael because his fathers name was Rafael. You should probably do a little more research before you start writing that article.

You should be able to amass a large following here. Pro tip: The crazier, the better.
