I'm actually convinced that the "focus group" that Luntz ran on FNC after the first debate was really a "push group." They believed the moderators would set up Trump and Luntz's group of paid shills would convince the rest of us that Trump had crashed and burned.

A funny thing happened on the way to the plan: Frank Luntz got schooled into how impossible it is to flamboozle people with a solid ideology and actual principles.

He should have learned that lesson two years ago, when The Koch Brothers and several other rich CoC pro-illegal groups tried to convince conservatives that "comprehensive immigration reform" was really a "very conservative idea."

American Solutions -- note the Orwellian contradiction inherent in the name -- put on a $100 million ad-buy on talk radio and Fox News, and moved the conservative grass roots position on amnesty exactly zero points in the polls. I'm sure Rush and all the rest were very happy to take their money.

But here's what shocks me: apparently Frank Luntz can be educated. Wow. Who'da thunk it?

“American Solutions” was Gingrich’s invention, wasn’t it?
