I could see Cruz as VP. He’s only 44 years old. Even if Trump serves two terms, he’ll be 52 and still a relative youngster.

I don’t see Trump as a two termer however. If he gets elected, I think he’ll be satisfied with the one term as he’ll be closing in on 75 when he leaves office. That would set Cruz up even better if he takes the VP slot now

The risk is though, how well the Presidency goes. if it goes well, then Cruz will be viewed favorably. If it doesn’t go well, and you know the media will hypervigilant to blow up each and every non-issue (unlike they have been for the past seven years) and perceived scandal, then Cruz will appear as damaged goods. He would then have to run on being against Trump’s policies which is fraught with risk if he was even mildly successful, but a strong Dem challenger forces Cruz to run a different course. Cruz would be an awesome AG and/or SCOTUS justice.

Carson has also come up as a viable VP from Cruz or Trump. While I like Carson — and would vote for him in the general — he does not have the boldness or charisma to win the nomination. Just my opinion, of course...

As has been said on this forum many times, all of the candidates are running for the top spot. Some may accept the #2 spot, but some may not. Another important point is remembering whoever is VP must be ready to step into the position of #1 immediately God forbid, anything happens to the President. If we can’t see some of these candidates being #1, then they shouldn’t be #2.

I can see Carson as a vey good President. I just don’t see him winning the election, again due to lack of boldness and charisma. May be wrong.

Cruz would be an awesome AG and/or SCOTUS justice.

This nation desperately needs 8 years of a Cruz presidency. Then, it will need 8 more years of another conservative's presidency.

Maybe, by then, after 16 years of hardline conservative governance, we will have regained America's proper place.

As an AG or SCOTUS justice, Cruz can't accomplish that.

Don’t follow Susanna Martinez NM Governor on a regular basis. But what I hear is better than Ayotte for VP, IMO.

We are getting a little ahead of the narrative, though, aren’t we? First things first.

Cruz is interested in one single thing....getting the Attorney General job for four years and then get flipped over to be a Supreme Court judge. I think that’s been his angle from day one.

I've just finished his book. I don't see that in there. On what do you base your statement?

This guy Castellitto must be on the Klintoon Foundation payroll. 3rd Party road leads to another dem.

Trump nor Cruz will need to go that route. The lead is theirs to lose.

After Jebby blows $10 mil on TV ads and still is sinking, Mamma Barb will call him off.

........First things first.

Agreed, but it is interesting to speculate.

I curious to see if any other possible VP name comes up if either DT or TC is nominated, other than the current 16 other names.

True. It's Cruz as VP then. I think Cruz is well aware of Trump's celebrity, and years on Apprentice brings him a large and diverse voting block (the ladies like him) Cruz can't compete with.

Trump/Cruz 2016. A powerful ticket! Trump is a 'big picture' leader, Cruz is a brilliant Constitutional scholar.

Indeed. A sitting VP must perforce run as the “third term” of the sitting POTUS. He is the sitting POTUS’ political heir.

It’s shocking how seldom a sitting VP is elected POTUS. AFAIK the only examples are Adams and Jefferson (in the pre-12th Amendment era), and van Buren and GHW Bush. What is notable is that the presidents they succeeded have their portraits on commonly used bills - or should, in the case of Ronaldus Maximus.

I beg to differ...in a very short time frame, they’ve granted two significant rights that heretofore did not exist, and was short one vote of eradicating the another (2A being an individual right). Seems like they’ve “accomplished” an awful lot.

She’d be good. Another name that’s come up as a VP for Trump is Mark Cuban. That’d be kind of like Superman teaming up with Batman (sorry Robin!)

I read some where that Trump was looking for a Running Mate to help carry either Ohio or Florida. The author of the article speculated that it could possibly be a Trump/Kasich or Trump/Rubio Ticket. I’m thinking Ted needs to be set aside for the SCOTUS if he is not the nominee.
