That’s a good point, but anti-Cruz people don’t know that, nor do pro-Cruz people.
I’ve seen Cruz’ liberal position on legal immigration mentioned once before in an article by a liberal, but generally I think you’re right. Most don’t know, and some of his supporters react angrily when it’s mentioned.
I’ve been called a liar on this site by some unhinged Cruz fans for pointing out his liberal views on legal immigration. That Cruz is on record as saying these things in the Senate, and that there are YouTube videos of him stating those positions didn’t faze them. And it wasn’t that they took the Bush-WSJ line and argued that unending mass legal immigration is good, they just seemed offended that anyone dared notice Cruz’ own words.
I still like Cruz. I think he’s good-great on most issues. I loved how he called out McConnell recently. I just hate that he’s so wrong on the one issue that has the ability to settle all other issues with its demography shaping power.
