You haven’t paid enough attention to him.

I personally don’t think a president needs to be charming, he DOES NEED to be the smartest one of the bunch with the best solutions to fix this country and that’s Cruz.

Ted Cruz is definitely the one who scares the democrats the most. What uber lefty Chris Hayes had to say about Ted Cruz before he was even a senator.

but tonight we begin with a man who i believe is the most dangerous politician on the american right. in october 2007 i sat in the media gallery of the united states supreme court and watched the solicitor general of texas argue on behalf of the state that he should have the ability to put to death a mexican national, jose, who had been convicted of raping and murdering two teenage girls in houston. he won that argument and he was executed by texas on august 5th , 2008 , despite the objections of the united nations and the international court of justice . at the time, i had no idea who this man arguing on behalf of texas was. but all i could think was holy crap , this guy is good. it was one of his nine times arguing before the supreme court and he was witty, incredibly fast on his feet and clearly had a brilliant legal mind. it is to this day one of the most impressive displays i have ever seen before the court and i have had the good fortune to spend a lot of time there. so you can imagine my horror in 2012 when i tuned into the texas senate race. i hadn't been paying much attention to. and realized that lieutenant governor david dewhurst , the republican establishment candidate, was being prepared by a tea party candidate who was the same guy i saw kick ass in the supreme court in 2007 . i thought that night, night i made that connection, oh, this is trouble. and trouble that man has been. trouble in every direction. as he vies to be the singular voice of the right wing grassroots and as he has very quickly assumed a leadership role in movement. he's a man who combines the intellectual credentials and pedigree of barack obama , with the raw right wing populist appeal of sarah palin . his full name is rafael edward cruz .

Is Ted Cruz the most dangerous man on the American right?

I think you are wrong here.

A President does not have to be the smartest man in the room. He has to be smart enough to realize his own limits and smart enough to surround himself with the best advisers he can get. And then he has to be willing to take their advice.

The thing he needs in addition to intelligence is big brass balls that clang together when he walks. This is where many fall short.

Based on actual results in life, Trump has demonstrated that he is qualified. He has demonstrated this through success in business, not politics, but he has quite thoroughly demonstrated it.

“I personally don’t think a president needs to be charming”

Maybe a sitting president doesn’t need to be charming but, sadly, candidates do. It started with JFK looking better than Nixon. And now, with shallow and superficial idiots being able to vote, it’s even more so. If you put a charming candidate up against the smartest one of the bunch the outcome won’t be ideal.

Best case scenario is finding one person who has both assets.

What matters is not how smart the candidate is. What matters is his ability to get enough people to like him and trust him that they vote him into office. Say what you want about Obama and Bill Clinton, in public they came across as likable guys.

This is Trump's advantage -- despite his wealth, he comes across as somebody who I think I would enjoy having a few beers with. I think Walker would be a better President, but Trump is somebody I would enjoy an evening with.

There is another advantage that Trump enjoys: he is seen by women as an alpha male. Compare and contrast:

Jeb Bush and wife:

Trump, wife, and son:
