Ted Cruz Just Disqualified Himself for President, Part II
The Huffington Post's Politics The Blog ^ | July 31, 2015 | Daniel R. DePetris, National Security Dude, Observer of Congress, Currently Outside-the-Beltway

Posted on 07/31/2015 5:07:56 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

For a person who wants to be President of the United States, Sen. Ted Cruz is sure not acting presidential.

When he was Majority Leader, Harry Reid called Ted Cruz a "schoolyard bully" on the Senate floor. I won't go that far, because I don't know the man personally; I've never spoken to him, and it would be unfair for me to characterize someone in such a personal fashion without doing so. But I will reiterate something that I wrote last March: Sen. Cruz is not qualified to be President of the United States. It's not because he's a bully or a relatively inexperienced senator compared to colleagues that have been legislating for the past several decades (President Obama, after all, was only in the U.S. Senate for less than four years). He isn't fit to be President because his behavior over the past several weeks has been anything but presidential: calling his party leader a "lair" during a floor speech (something that he had to walk back as he was criticized by senior GOP senators for his conduct), misquoting witnesses during Senate hearings, and refusing to acknowledge that there are some things in this world (like the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) that require level-headed, cool and calculated analysis.

A big part of being a Commander-in-Chief is to demonstrate the fortitude to treat your political opponents with respect, refraining from attacks directed at an individual just because your opponent happens to express a different position on a policy, and engaging in a pragmatism that enables the country to move forward. One can argue whether President George W. Bush and President Barak Obama's policies are wrong or foolish, but you can't argue the fact that both men acted like a President -- that is, exhibited the characteristics of patience....

Isn’t it just amazing how many of these idiots allow Trump to take space in their heads. Then again; since most of them haven’t more than two brain cells to rub together, that isn’t really very surprising.

Indeed it is amazing...and it's also predictable that their retorts are always personal, always accusatory, always trying to condemn the messenger while ignoring the message. You know, a message like this below...because frankly, I've never been so stupid as to cheer Obama...and I bet you haven't either.....

If Cruz or Trump wins the Republican nomination separately or if they are the presidential ticket I’m gonna invest in Pfizer stock because the sale of Xanax will go through the roof! If the left is going this crazy over those two a year out from the election how much more psychotic will they become if one or both of the scenarios I listed becomes reality!

My gosh, after all it's politics. Do we need another milquetoast loser candidate like Mitt? Mitt choked; he choked like a dog.

Harry Reid called Ted Cruz a “schoolyard bully” <<

The author obviously believes Harry Reid knows bullies...like his exercise machine. Non presidential is more adequately described as:

Making a treaty and committing the country to it, without the congressional approval even being a consideration in the negotiations.

Forcing everyone to buy crappy, non market and irresponsible insurance where the actual health care is still too expensive for the poor to access (and increasing the lack of access to the middle class).

Using the IRS as a gain to friends and a punishment to enemies.

And with both the IRS and “Obamacare” exempting friends from the onerous rules and payments, and bureaucratizing the rest of the population.

The list is longer but life has demands.

DK

something that he had to walk back

Sen. Cruz stuck by his comments about McConnell. He never walked them back.

Irony is totally lost on the left.

indeed, because to understand irony, you must ditch emotion and embrace logic....and if you do that, by definition, you're NOT on the left....

Always fun to be lectured by a leftist about public decorum.

Cause heaven knows, passive-aggression is SO much more wholesome than justifiable anger.....

Reminder.

but tonight we begin with a man who i believe is the most dangerous politician on the american right. in october 2007 i sat in the media gallery of the united states supreme court and watched the solicitor general of texas argue on behalf of the state that he should have the ability to put to death a mexican national, jose, who had been convicted of raping and murdering two teenage girls in houston. he won that argument and he was executed by texas on august 5th , 2008 , despite the objections of the united nations and the international court of justice . at the time, i had no idea who this man arguing on behalf of texas was. but all i could think was holy crap , this guy is good. it was one of his nine times arguing before the supreme court and he was witty, incredibly fast on his feet and clearly had a brilliant legal mind. it is to this day one of the most impressive displays i have ever seen before the court and i have had the good fortune to spend a lot of time there. so you can imagine my horror in 2012 when i tuned into the texas senate race. i hadn't been paying much attention to. and realized that lieutenant governor david dewhurst , the republican establishment candidate, was being prepared by a tea party candidate who was the same guy i saw kick ass in the supreme court in 2007 . i thought that night, night i made that connection, oh, this is trouble. and trouble that man has been. trouble in every direction. as he vies to be the singular voice of the right wing grassroots and as he has very quickly assumed a leadership role in movement. he's a man who combines the intellectual credentials and pedigree of barack obama , with the raw right wing populist appeal of sarah palin . his full name is rafael edward cruz.

Is Ted Cruz the most dangerous man on the American right?

Any guy who uses the word “bully” gets his man card permanently pulled.

Don’t like it? Go purse shopping....

Geez, we need to man up.

Ted who?

The Left is so busy with Trump that they barely have any time to notice the 16 other Republicans in the race.

I LIKE IT. By the time the hit pieces are published on Cruz, it will be too late.

On the contrary. I think he's been acting very much like presidential material by calling people out who are engaging in treasonous acts and distorting the truth.

All attention on Trump takes it away from other candidates. He is really the only one being distinguished from the herd, and voters will not have as much opportunity to get to know other candidates.
