McCain graduated near bottom of his war college class. He crashed or damaged 4 or 5 planes before flying on that fatal mission over Vietnam. He injured his arms during improper ejection procedure from his aircraft, and not due to torture by Vietcong. They had no reason to torture McCain, he was singing like a bird when interrogated.
