I hate these mental exercises of trying to rationalize a stupid question like this. The guy was a ignorant jerk for asking the question and I think Cruz held back too much.

I have a few friends that are gay. I disagree with the lifestyle, but as long as they keep their sex private they can do as they wish. Ironically some of them vote republican. Even they’ve had it with Obama.

History doesn't have a "right" or a "wrong" side. It is simply the recording of factual occurrences over a period of time. If any "history" is accorded a judgment of "right" or "wrong" it is no longer history, but is, at best, personal interpretation, or, more likely, propaganda. So, yes, this "wrong side of history" is simply the latest in a set of buzzwords and libspeak that attempts to assign a political judgment to the historical record.

Any kind of judgment requires a moral compass upon which to base the judgment, and I always thought that liberals were loathe to do such. I guess they would be willing to do so if it agrees with their prejudged viewpoint, but if it doesn't, they'll say it is "the wrong side of history". I guess attaching the "history" qualifier absolves them of any guilt in making a moral judgment.

I HAVE been molested and I'm not allowed to have a negative opinion.

Part of my training for chaplaincy work involves working with a group, and part of that is sharing some fairly deep things. For one of three 16-week sessions, I had to spend with loud flaming liberal feminists, one of whom wanted to be a lesbian atheist chaplain and got all angry when anyone asked her why she wanted to be. But that's an aside.

The thing is, I shared the fact that I got molested at age ten and told them that's one big reason that I don't like teh gehy. But after that, so many comments made towards me were little more than trying to bait me, or trying to interpret anything I do, such as getting up from the table to get a drink, as homophobic. Or something.

Fortunately the group supervisor was keen enough to stop it before it became a bash-the-Luircin festival and the next session I got placed with a group that wasn't full of screaming harpies... Anyways, no, you're not allowed to have an opinion even if you were molested. If you don't worship at the liberal altar, you're subhuman.
