Ted Cruz Claims to Have the Key to Hispanic Vote, And It’s Shockingly Simple
Independent Journal Review ^ | May 2, 2015 | Frank Camp

CNN reports that, while speaking to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Ted Cruz took a swipe at Mitt Romney’s infamous “47 percent” remark.

Cruz reframed the conversation, taking the opportunity to connect the remark to the Hispanic vote:

“The media repeatedly said the reason Mitt Romney got clobbered in the Hispanic community was because of immigration…the data don’t bear that out…”

“What the polling data showed is actually Hispanic voters agree with Mitt Romney on a great many issues. Where he got clobbered was ‘cares about somebody like me.’ Where he got clobbered was the 47 percent–you remember the infamous comment…”

“I think Republicans are and should be the party of the 47 percent.”

While Cruz received only 35% of the Hispanic vote in his 2012 Senate race, conservative politicians made some considerable gains in the 2014 mid-terms.

According to Pew Research, Greg Abbott of Texas garnered 44% of the Hispanic vote, and David Perdue of Georgia garnered 42%.

This is significant, given that just two years prior, Mitt Romney received only 27% of the national Hispanic vote.

Ted Cruz may be on to something. Despite Pew reporting that 84% of Hispanic voters say a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants is more important or equally important as securing the border:

“When it comes to their vote, half (54%) of Latino registered voters say they would vote for a candidate who disagrees with them on immigration policy if that candidate agrees with them on most other issues.”

On Wednesday, Cruz said:

“We asked Hispanic voters in Texas what your number one issue is. You know what percent said immigration? Three percent…54 percent said jobs and the economy.”

It appears that 2016 will be the laboratory that puts this concept to the test.

They already have amnesty by pen and phone and Cruz needs their votes whether they are wetback or dry, it’s an unsavory fact.

Maybe Cruz can win California. :)

One thing to notice about the Ted Cruz candidacy is leftist activists are clueless about how to stop him. Although most of them haven’t noticed yet, the same old tactics are useless against Cruz.

The worst news for them is Cruz is immune to Alinsky tactics.

Granted the Spanish in Mexico is a different dialect but it is still Spanish; same for Cuba. In Spain, they speak Bastilian Spanish. It’s all still Spanish. In this nation, we speak English; not American. But, English spoken in South Carolina is different from the English spoken in Massachusetts.

i have always thought about martinez as VP, then we get the Cuban and Hispanic vote, oh and the female vote. how will Hillary try to bash that ticket? Hillary vs any Hispanic ticket is going to be like Obama trying to rally the “Average Working American” vote.

Ted Cruz made a statement the other day; perhaps you heard about it. He said: "I've never seen a Hispanic panhandling."And, I got to thinking: "By damn, neither have I."

Forget it. I would never support a ticket with Rubio on it.

Okay, EEE, you are going to have to take back that statement or change your tagline because they contradict each other. Or, are you drunk and on the computer tonight? LOL..... J/K.

well, like the last time around, remember when people were already making bumper stickers or yard signs? Rubio or Cruz/Martinez would have the Democrat Nominee in full panic mode. I cant wait! I still dont have my dream ticket yet, it changes every month.

I’m dead serious.

I am not voting for any open borders presidential candidate.

Walker’s flip flopping on illegals and Cruz support for legal immigration is why I’m undecided.

“I’ve never seen a Hispanic panhandling.”And, I got to thinking: “By damn, neither have I.”

I have seen Mexican beggars in Mexico.

In the United States, the living is so easy that no Mexican sees the need to beg.

Who does not support legal immigration?

Then delete your tagline. You said “anybody” but Jeb and Hillary. If you would never vote for Rubio or Cruz, that disproves your tagline. Or, how ‘bout this? Just change your tagline to read: ANYBODY BUT FRICKING JEB AND HILLARY AND RUBIO AND CRUZ.

Mexican is a nationality; not a language. A “Mexican” is a person from Mexico and the language they speak is Spanish, NOT Mexican.

No different then saying speak America when you are speaking English...

there's an old saying that the only thing that separates the English and the Americans is a common language

IF you know the Spanish they speak in Mexico vs the Spanish they speak in the the rest of the Hispanic world it a far wider gap.

I know someone that spoke fluent Castilian Spanish and they could not understand a word a Mexican said when they finally picked it up they said it sounded like someone from the speaking arcane English that was from the deep south.

I myself grew up in the area of southern California that was 98% Mexican...I can't speak it but I can sure as heck understand quite a bit.... when I went to Buenos Aires I couldn't understand a word of the Spanish spoken down there it sounded completely different it sounded like Italian

In Arizona we have known that voting Hispanics tend to be pixxed off at the idea that illegals should be retained.

The exceptions tend to be propagandized militant “pochos” more Mexican than American.

Problen, cruz do 500% increase H1b visas to further harm Americans here. Shame on him.

Aw... come on marktwain. That’s a ridiculous statement. If what you say is true, then why do Whites and Blacks see the need to beg? You’re smarter than that. Don’t embarrass yourself with statements like that.

Mitt Romney was right, on a lot of things. He withered under relentless media ridicule, and was told to throw the fight. Conservatives are masters at clawing each other to death. Liberals on the other hand put aside their petty differences come election time, knowing it’s a foot in the door.

There might be a reason for that. Did you know that there are over 40 spoken languages in Argentina? Yessir.... sho ‘nuff. If you don’t believe me, do a Google search.
