Unfortunately, the electorate of 2016 doesn't much resemble the electorate of 1980.

36 years of massive immigration have left their mark and the demographics today are of a much less white population.

Assuming he makes it to the General, Cruz will have to pull off some kind miracle with Hispanics or get pretty much every white vote, besting even Romney, who got a higher percentage of white votes than did Reagan in '80.

The best scenario might be for Hillary to get nominated, and then for some kind of new scandal to emerge and acually penetrate the media's shield, depressing Rat turnout.

Meanwhile the conservative base turns out like never before for Senator Cruz.

...One can hope!

I think “true conservatives” deserve the chance to prove their theory that a truly conservative GOP nominee can be elected.

I don’t believe it’s true, but it is important to test the theory.

Cruz received 40% of the Hispanic vote in Texas as part of his Senate win.

If he can tap into that vote on a national scale, that would be huge. And serious.
