I still think he’ll do about the same thing Fred Thompson did in 2008.

Screw around for months teasing a run?

Fred Thompson was never as popular as Ted Cruz is.

“Screw around for months teasing a run?”

Fred announced on the Leno show. He got a bump from that and then leveled out at about 12%.

Ted has been polling about 5%.
If he doesn’t get that up soon especially now since he’s the only one who has officially declared then he’s not going to get any traction.

Fred's problems were that his heart was not really in it, and he was a lazy campaigner.

Cruz won't have those problems.

Based on what I have observed ... yes.

I’m not wild about Cruz but he sure beats Bush!

“Cruz won’t have those problems.”

That’s true.
Ted will have a whole different set of problems.
If he can’t get competitive in the polls soon with the 2 current front runners, Jeb and Walker then he’s not going to get any traction.

I’m in Virginia too. I voted for Ron Paul, after they blocked Newt, as a protest vote. Paul got 40% (Romney 60%) so I wasn’t the only one.

I will vote for Cruz in the general as a write in if the GOPe pulls that crap again.

The “moderates” have certainly come oozing up from beneath the paving stones of FR recently. (Within the last few days in fact)

Oh please! We've all been waiting for Cruz's announcement for three years now, and now that he's finally done it, people suddenly have doubts about him and are getting cold feet?

“Firebrand” sounds like their first talking point.

He can get the nomination only if he will stop saying on Sunday he’s going to go around the MSM right to the people, only to sit down with Dem choir-girl Dana Bash on Tuesday.

I’m not getting cold feet.
I always thought he’d be a real long shot.
I still think that.
I’m not slagging on him. I just don’t think he’s the lock that a lot of Freepers think he is.

I cut loose from the feckless, dickless and treacherous GOPE in early 2014. I would gladly vote for Ted Cruz - he's a leader, in sharp contrast to all the triangulators in politics these days. And I'd like Allen West as VP.

"Thought must be the harder, heart be the keener, mind must be the greater, as our might lessens."

I was supporting Walker right up to the moment Cruz made his announcement.

Now I support Cruz and will be quiet on Walker while taking a baseball bat to the knees of Little Jebbie and Chunky C.

Fred was a blocker for McCain, he was never serious about running. Lindsay Graham is playing that role this time around for Jebster.

Okay. That doesn’t change the longshot status.
The OP was can Cruz get the GOP to nominate him.
It’s a real long shot.
