Early Friday evening Sen. Elizabeth Warren took to the Senate floor and gave a plain-spoken, barn-burning speech that could make history and put her into serious contention to be the next President of the United States.
There are only a handful of political speeches that have such historic impact. Barack Obama's keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention comes readily to mind. It's what catapulted an obscure Illinois state Senator into the national limelight and put him on the path to becoming President.
Warren's Senate speech was different, but just as electrifying.
Obama's rhetoric was lofty, high-minded, and general, with a feel-good unifying message that there's no blue America or red America but only the United States of America.
Warren's rhetoric is more down to earth, substantive, and frankly, angrier, unafraid of calling out by name the institutions--the big banks and Citigroup in particular--which tanked the economy, cost millions of Americans their jobs and homes, were bailed out with half a trillion dollars of taxpayer money, and then used their fortunes to buy Congress and make it more likely they'll be bailed out again. Moreover, she was unafraid to take on the President of her own party, and the numerous members of his administration drawn from Citigroup and other big banks through the endless revolving door between Washington and Wall Street.
Here's the heart of Warren's speech:
Democrats don't like Wall Street bailouts. Republicans don't like Wall Street bailouts. The American people are disgusted by Wall Street bailouts
And yet here we are, five years after Dodd-Frank with Congress on the verge of ramming through a provision that would do nothing for the middle class, do nothing for community banks, do nothing but raise the risk that taxpayers will have to bail out the biggest banks once again...

I agree. She really hammers the too-big-to-fail banks and the need to stop bailing them out with taxpayer money.
Too bad our fellow FReepers do not always read the message or listen to the tape.

I’m sure she will run. Obama will throw his support and, more importantly, his organization behind her. Why? To show that the country is stupid enough to elect another liberal, interest group (Indian women?) Senator with a thin resume as POTUS again.
Warren is so much like Obama it hurts. A junior senator with “potential” because she gives speeches that liberals swoon over.
Not that I shed any tears for Hillary mind you.....they can all go suck eggs.
Yeah, lets see what she does if elected. My $$ says it will be business as usual, if not worse.
Sarah Palin, when finally winning control over her own actions, was quick to learn the rules of the game and quickly adjusted her style and presentations based on that knowledge.
Mr. Cruz and other of our warrior champions have leaned the same lesson and also made the necessary changes required to reach the American public, gain a voice, and learned how to deal with the firewall placed by the MSM.
IMHO. Senator Warren in some ways has become an ally in accord with our conservative thinking and operates with a different filter established by the MSM.
I say this is good as it makes our side much larger.

But, she does not mean it. She is just trying to whip up popular support among thinking voters whom she normally would not appeal to.
Talk the talk and then once elected wallow the wallow with the biggies on Wall and K Streets.
I think it quite likely that she will be the next President of the United States.
She’s identified, and is targeting, the missing white votes. The GOP could have done it, but their big donors and Chamber buddies wouldn’t go for it.
SHHHH! We want Warren to run.

Yeah, too bad Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin never said anything, huh?
True, but also Hillary is yesterday’s news, a retread. People love novelty, the new kid on the block. Both she and Hillary are statist to the core. There is negligible difference between them. But Americans love novelty. Unlike the GOP, Democrats have no tradition of nominating the oldest gas bag who’s only claim to the nomination is, “It’s my turn.”
Hopefully Hill will find all the trash on Liz. Let her get the brunt of the attack on women instead of the R’s.
Here’s the problem.
The Chicago Mob has a mutual assured destruction pact with the Clinton Crime Family.
That’s why Hillary couldn’t mention all the phony stuff in Baraq’s background. From the birth cert on forward.
If the Mob signs on with Warren, you’ll see the same deal.
