Agggh! I hope neither of them is the nominee, but I would take Bush over Romney, who has already proven his ability to lose a sure thing. We don’t need to see this happen a second time.

I’ve posted this around the net a number of times and do so again inasmuch as THIS is a constantly recurring problem and some may not grasp how widespread it is. And now that the RNC has OPENLY declared war on the Tea Party, it should be clear to all why I have for a few decades cautioned my many friends to NOT SEND THE RNC – or ANY NATIONAL GOP OPERATION BASED WITHIN 100 MILES OF D.C. – A NICKLE.

Over the years – when, to steal a line from Billy Joel, I wore a younger man’s clothes – I was involved with several pretty solid conservative candidates for Congress. One was a Democrat (Lawrence Patton McDonald) – because that was the only way he could win in that district. Those old-timers who know Larry’s record will tell you that he was a solid an anti-communist America Firster and more Republican than the Pubbies in nearby districts at the time. (His mother’s cousin was General George Patton from whom he got the middle name – and his incredible resolve and love of this country.) How ironic that he, like General Patton, was also assassinated by the communists they both despised. It was my honor to introduce Larry at his last public speech in the district before that ill-fated KAL007 flight!

Those other candidates ran as Republicans and each had to pass my rigid litmus test or I went looking for someone who did. For that reason, I hooked up with what the TRADITIONAL country club Pubbie establishment types believed were too radical for their refined tastes. I served as treasurer for several and in other capacities for more.

As those campaigns began to unfold and it became clear to the country clubbers that these guys 1) had a shot and 2) were pretty independent thinkers who would be hard to keep on the reservation once they got sworn in, the local Pubbies communicated that information to the Republican National HQ types who rather quickly sent in campaign “professionals” ostensibly to lock up the impending victory.

Instead, in nearly every case to which I was privy, these “professionals” proceeded to TORPEDO our guy’s campaign in subtle but effective ways.

From that experience I can tell you that the Pubbies at the HQ in D.C. would rather have a Democrat win a given district than have a pubbie up there who would embarrass them by refusing to follow the party line.

If YOU become involved in campaigns for solidly conservative, America and Constitution loving, hard-nosed, independent thinking candidates in 2014 and beyond – and I pray many of you do — please DO NOT trust any of those folks from GOP HQ in Washington. If they want to send you no-strings cash for your campaign, take it. If, however, they “suggest” sending in one of their “professionals,” tell them to fuggetaboutit.

They ARE WHO GOT US INTO THIS MESS AND THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS!!!!

“The common and continual mischief of the spirit of Party is
sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to
discourage and restrain it.” G. Washington

(BTW, My genealogical research informs me that my 5th great-grandfather, one John Carpenter, was one of George Washington’s Virginia neighbors and fought with GW in the French and Indian War and the Revolution. Prior to that, John traveled with GW during his survey of the Northwest Territories.)

Nixon, but I think it was 8 years, not 4.

Mitt Romney will beat Jeb Bush and the Republicans will lose another election with a man who doesn’t want the job and will run as if he doesn’t want the job. It would be no better the other way. If either were to become the next president it would be no better than if whatever Democrat runs should win. Either will increase business regulation, continue to enrich Goldman Sachs, create a new hugely expensive welfare benefit and spend money faster than the previous president. The Republicans, having one of their own, will go along with anything he should desire.

Here’s hoping neither Bush or Romney end up running. Sure wish we were getting more signals about/from Cruz and/or Walker to give us someone to rally around..

I think a Romney nomination is very likely, much, much more than Jeb Bush.

And Hillary has almost no chance of being nominated. If she WERE the nominee, Romney would have a shot, but running against Fauxcahontas is almost hopeless for him.

Exactly.

Compared to “Jeb”, he suddenly doesn’t look so ridiculous anymore.

“Middle of the road centrist conservative ...” is like a non-alcoholic non-fat single-malt-scotch hot fudge sundae: total BS.

The HRC campaign is all sizzle and no steak. She is a hopelessly bad candidate (I mean on a performance scale), she will not be running in 50 New Yorks, she looks horrible, and there are a number of ambitious RATs waiting to take her down.

Polls at this point have no meaning, as I’m sure you know.

And, BTW, I think there is zero chance that the Republican Party will come within a mile of nominating Ted Cruz.

In the RAT Party, their “base” is 75% of their voters. In the GOP, it’s more like 30%.

Trucons can defeat any Republican, but they have yet to demonstrate that they can elect one of their own. Our biggest problem is not that WE don’t vote for THEM, it’s that when one of ours makes it to November, THEY stab us in the back.

Democrats NEVER, NEVER do that.

If Ted Cruz is going to become President, he will have to do it without the GOP.

I think Mitt is going to run. I still think Hillary will not run.

I'm on pretty much the same page, Sister FReeper.

I accepted early in 2012 and have already accepted for 2016 that Mitt was/will be the official "Republican" choice for president, as in Republican primaries as currently configured, a small minority decides the primary outcome very early on; American conservatives and Republicans are left out in terms of their voice in real votes. So if it isn't Mitt in 2016, it will be one of those absurd "middle of the road centrist conservatives" that Matthews and the MSN define as acceptably "Republican."

Matthews and the established GOP "leaders" are ordering from the same menu.

I was dubious of Hillary's ever running, even before Obama because the real numbers of Americans who actually like Hillary are dismally low, and all the MSM representations of the opposite are entirely futile. Obama came out of left field -- and I think the same is likely to happen in 2016. If Hillary runs, she may win if the Republicans nominate a loser, but it would be a very, very weak victory, which would be better than a mandate. A lot better.

In any case, for Republican strategists to even think of basing their choice on whom they predict will be Democrat opponent, is equivalent to agreeing to let the left set the agenda. Totally stupid.

It's not about the Democrat party. It's about the available alternative and solution, or lack thereof.

It's about the next limited government Christian conservative genuinely representative of real productive moral working Americans who are sick of government tyranny that they never actually voted for in the first place.

As long as the Republican party keeps its eyes fastened on the Democrats and the MSM, it will be manipulated by the left.

However, the majority of productive, actual feet-on-the-ground working Americans, see through the MSM, despise it, and pretty much resent government tyranny AND leftist media bias. Evidence of this is abundant, but the MSM is totally blind to it.

Americans -- by that I mean real, working, productive, legal Americans (as opposed to illegals or government dependents) are smarter than most folks think. The MSM doesn't speak for them -- us -- and they -- we -- are increasingly figuring it out.

God bless America.

The Liberal, MSM wishes Romney, a proven loser, would get the nomination.
