Congressional Black Caucus Takes the Floor to Talk About Ferguson and Race in America
National Journal ^ | December 1, 2014 | Matt Berman

"We want a fair, impartial, and color-blind criminal justice system. But if we're honest with ourselves, that doesn't exist for all Americans today."

Late Monday night, after the House took its final votes, members of the Congressional Black Caucus took the floor to speak for about one hour about race in the wake of a grand jury's decision last week not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the August shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.

"Hands up, don't shoot," Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York began.

Charles Rangel, the longtime New York Democrat, followed Jeffries and CBC Chairwoman Marcia Fudge of Ohio to deride America's "cancer" and those who don't acknowledge it. "Like anything else you love, if there's an illness, if there's a problem, you would want to know: What can you do to cure it? How can you make it all that our country can be?" Rangel said. "How can we say that we have a cancer until we recognize that we do, then we don't really love the country? How can we be able to say that white and black in this country are equal and that those who work hard and live by the rules have the same opportunities as each other, when we know that we have this cancer?"

Rangel went on to address the idea of reparations for slavery, suggesting that it goes beyond money. "Some people may talk about payment for restitution for past crimes committed against human beings," he said. "But that restitution could be the ability to say that we're going to make certain that people of color in this country would be able to have access to the same type of education, live where they want to live, compete against anybody for the job, and not feeling that they're inferior because people have been taught that just because they have a different complexion that they are superior."

Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas said that the American jury system needs reform. "I would hope we would look to legislative fixes with our colleagues to make America better. The Congressional Black Caucus will not be silenced," she said. "America is better than this, a country that we love.... We must fix it, and we must fix it now."

That's pretty much all they do, from what I can see.

Focus-tested lines straight from the Alinsky playbook.

Is this all those freeloading bass turds have to do? It’s time to get rid of full time politicians. Two three day sessions per year should handle it.

Yep, America is racist.

There are black Mayors, Senators, Representatives, star athletes and movie stars. Even poor blacks have access to automobiles, food, shelter, and money.

There's always Africa, with its kleptocrat dictators, starving masses, diseases, and Muslim terrorists to live with.

Did they happen to mention the 12 twelve black on black shootings in Newark, New Jersey over the past 48 hours?

If we must fix this, lets start with the Black Caucus, why do we have it.

So far as what I have been able to observe, there is a problem...

However, the problem and it does need to be fixed. It is not the conservative racist whites that deny constitutional rights to blacks.

Since the start of Lindon Johnson’s “great society”, the black race has been decimated. To the point that I’m not sure we can recover from this, or that their is the political will to try...

We don't have a Justice System, only a Legal System.

The underclass apparently desires a different set of Laws from the rest of society.

Unless there is concerted push back from whites...whites are going down.

We are not only under attack but they are stepping this crap up big time. The government, the MSM, Hollywood, 5th Ave and the overwhelming majority of non whites are pushing hard to break our will and culture.

There is not ONE person currently in the federal government who supports us.

I am beginning to believe that whites have lost any will to survive.

It's from Treasure of the Sierra Madre. The actual line is "badges, we don't need no stinkin' badges!"

They then rob and kill Humphrey Bogart.

It's a meme: We don't need no stinkin' _______!

The Congressional Black Caucus (aka part of the Marxist Progressive Congressional Caucus) is always looking for a “fix”.

Try Harlem. They’ve got some good stuff, fools.

That is why we call the CBC “dopes”.

Although this thread and the recent thread referenced below are different issues, they reflect “anti-establishment” reality distortion fields imo.
FR: “Look at the Tea Party: Some of the angriest, most hateful people on earth, and they’re

Although the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) has historical basis for their claims, it remains that a part of the injustice that they are now complaining about is probably based on hate-motivated indoctrination imo.

Also, since the only race-based issue that the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect is voting rights as evidenced by the 15th Amendment, the CBC is trying to find remedy for their grievance in the wrong place. More specifically, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to protect citizens from police brutality.

So the CBC actually needs to work with state lawmakers to make laws which protect citizens from police brutality, or they need to work with state and federal lawmakers to propose a police brutality amendment to the Constitution to the states. And if the states choose to ratify their amendment then the feds will have the constitutional authority that they need to protect citizens from police brutality and the CBC will be heroes.
