EXCLUSIVE: Ted Cruz confidantes file super PAC papers, setting the stage for 2016 presidential run

* 'Stand for Principle PAC' isn't officially connected to the Texas senator
* But his friends' establishment of a financial juggernaut to help him in 2016 is the biggest sign yet that he's running for president
* Georgia business consultant filed papers with the FEC on Friday
* Group can raise unlimited amounts of money as long as it doesn't coordinate its activities with any candidates
* Former Cruz college roommate, considered his closest friend, chose the group's name

If Ted Cruz isn't running for president, his closest friends are setting up a super PAC for nothing. The 'Stand for Principle' PAC filed papers with the Federal Election Commission on Friday, and the organization's founder says it will be the go-to financial behemoth supporting the Texas senator in 2016.

Super PACs can raise unlimited amounts of money as long as they don't coordinate their activities with political campaigns.

The emergence of a funding stream set up by Cruz supporter Maria Strollo Zack signals that the tea party firebrand is laying the groundwork for an announcement – and Zack plans to raise a ton of money.

'We'd like to be $50 million by the end of March 2016, going into Super Tuesday,' she told MailOnline on Wednesday.

Stand for Principle isn't a so-called 'draft committee'; like those bearing the names of Hillary Clinton on the left and pediatric surgeon Ben Carson on the right.

Cruz's office in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

While Cruz can't legally partner with Zack, his close lifelong friend David Panton gave the project a nod and will be its most visible volunteer....

More and more Americans are becoming aware of the lies and deceit of the left. The Gruber tape is extremely damaging to the Democrat Party. The veil has been lifted and America has grown tired of being manipulated with lies.. The era of Pelosi is over. It's time for real patriotism and truth..

Ted Cruz' time has come. Running mate? How about Joni Ernst? Gotta have a female in there if Hillary's going to run.

Can’t be Ernst, as much as I like her...not political experience. After Obama, you can’t have that.

How about Cruz/West. That way you have 2 raging conservatives, West brings in executive experience, and you have both a Hispanic and a Black.

Alternatively, Kasich or Pence or Jindal would bring in more executive experience.

In any case, Cruz at the top of the ticket is key. We need this generation’s Reagan VERY, VERY badly. Cruz will be hard to beat once he gets into debates - the guy is as sharp as a tack, and not afraid to go for the throat to defeat opponents. I’m betting that Shrillary is afraid of him...and if it is Elizabeth Warren then you are looking at Cruz winning 450-500 E.V.s.

I can’t wait for President Cruz...the very words put together will make lieberal heads explode, much as “President Reagan” did when I was younger.

I like Cruz/Haley or Cruz/Martinez. Satisfies the need for Exec branch experience and a woman for all around appeal. Martinez’s Hispanicity will be the trefecta.

Maybe. SarahPac has been around for years, and she shows no signs of running for anything.

“Cruz/Lee

Or Ted Cruz/Scott Walker. The GOP has a deep bench of potential VP candidates to run with Cruz.

The ‘RATS, on the other hand, don’t even have a bench let alone anyone actually on a bench. They do have a number of potential 2016 candidates in the toilet.

If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.

Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!

Well this will cause a lot of conflicting emotions with the ‘principle don’t matter/purists are evil’ crowd.

Cruz West is my first probable choice. AW has the Pigford thing but he’’s seemingly solid overall. Then anyone hitting the 80% thing is acceptable. We need military experience in the WH if at all possible. That said, Preference overall? Cruz/Palin or Palin Cruz. But we;ll see what she decides to do. No military but lots of solid military support. and the brains to listen to them.

'We'd like to be $50 million by the end of March 2016, going into Super Tuesday,' she told MailOnline on Wednesday.

It's going to be a lot more than 50 million.

I’ll be there with one or two million and I’m a semi-shut-in old, fat disabled veteran. Imagine what a healthy 30 or 40 year old could do.

I’m very interested in raising money for Cruz but honestly, I don’t have a clue how one goes about this. (I am a TERRIBLE sales person. My parents would always end up buying my candy or whatever because I could never seem to get rid of it! LOL!) Seriously, how do you do this? Thanks!
