Florida is a very segregated state politically, mostly because the politics of a given area reflect the source regions of their inhabitants (Midwesterners in Sarasota, New York secular Jews in Palm Beach and Broward, Puerto Ricans in Orlando, etc.). Having lived in southeast Florida (highest population in the state), you would not be surprised by the results, unless you live in a white area in the pork chop (north Florida) where Liberal Democrats are as rare as Martians.
Alachua County, home of UF, is the only county McGovern took in 1972, lol. I still say university students should have to vote in their home districts, then we could have decent local government.
