Mitt Romney is a great person and a decent politician, but he also embodies the deepest problems in the Republican Party. He shouldn't run for president.
Republicans, if they want to control Congress or win the White House, need to become a Party of the People. Romney may be the worst possible man to take the GOP in that direction.
Romneys most telling moment in 2012 was when he told a crowd of rich donors that the 47 percent of the country that pay no income tax are unwinnable for Republicans, because they are dependent upon government, and I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.
Romney has downplayed the comment as some sort of clumsy way of handling a rambling question. But he campaigned like he believed it. Romney focused on the upper-middle-class white suburbs that Bush had generally won and McCain had generally lost. The fruit of this effort: he improved about 1 percentage point on McCains performance in key Ohio, Virginia, and Pennsylvania suburbs, while losing out on much of the blue-collar vote....

To the headlines:Romney is a looser and couldn’t lead anything
Constantly reminding people about Romney is not helpful.
I’m OK with him fundraising for candidates but talk of him running for president a 3rd time offsets any good he does.
WE don’t need a “populist” (i.e. Progressive) GOP.
We need one that can effectively articulate the core American values of Liberty, limited government, free markets and Constitutional law.
We need a GOP that can explain clearly to the American people why these core American values are our only hope of saving ourselves and our nation.
We don’t need a bunch of “populist” crap that makes RINOs sound like Democrats and enables them to adopt rhetoric that appeals to the worst indulgences of our citizenry by abandoning and obscuring the founding principles of our nation.
Ok ... no “Romney Campaign Satire Photos” this time .... just this question .... “What’s the Punchline to this Joke of an article” ?????
Part of the reason the GOP is dead is they got rid of their 'populism'.
I’m voting for Grimes against McConnel - my first vote for a D since 1972. If Romney is the GOP pick, I’ll vote for the D in the presidential election. I don’t care if it’s Hillary or Biden. I’m tired of this chit from the R’s.
I’m done voting for lizards.

When Tokyo Rove and his ilk are unemployed, the GOP could win again. As long as that fat bastard is still rump swabbing, nothing will change.
So voting for the nazi party then?
If you believe your tag line, why are you worried about whom you’ll vote for in 2016?
Good question.
Carney missed the fact Romney himself said he stole the nomination in 2012. If we have half a dozen conservatives splitting the vote, he could steal it again. Or Pataki !http://pagesix.com/2014/09/29/george-pataki-mulls-2016-bid-meets-with-david-koch/
Yep......and I keep on puking back
I am sick to death of FR screaming ......but they are the only ones who can win!
Has FR become a web site of stupidity?
Romney is a liberal and a loser........bottom line
“I’ve noticed the election season FReepers are starting to ooze in through the floorboards and whisper that Romney is our only hope.”
That guy on the left.... is it Hugh Hewitt or Michael Medved?
There are a few. But, by in large, the GOP has had decades to make a stand on such concerns.

No, you’re just running across GOPe stooges. They come out in droves around election time.
If you believe your tag line, why are you worried about whom youll vote for in 2016?
There is no human solution to our dilemma. To me it is mostly just bread and circuses. And I remember what a pastor said at a church I attended about 30 years ago: Where would the early church have been if it had put its faith in Rome?
This nation is utterly fascist in so many ways, and the demographic so far gone that the only solution is to ride it to the bottom and hope you are one of the ones that can help the phoenix rise from the ashes.
But I believe what we are experiencing is the time before Ezekiel 39 and so much of what is in Revelation, Matthew, and the rest of “end times” prophesy in the Bible. I see it so clearly it is as if I am the Bruce Willis character in 12 Monkeys visiting the past.
And need I remind you, this is not about the US. This is about the world.
