Juan Williams: Economy could tip election to Dems
The Hill ^ | 9-29-2014 | Juan Williams

One of the biggest surprises on the midterm campaign trail is hearing President Obama echo President Reagan’s famous question by asking voters whether “you are better off than you were four years ago.”

The question is the hammer in Obama’s toolbox for nailing down his Democratic majority in the Senate in this year’s midterm election.

“By almost every economic measure, we are better off today than we were when I took office,” the president said in a Sept. 19 speech to the Women’s Leadership Forum, sponsored by the Democratic National Committee.

Speaking to a Labor Day rally of union workers in Milwaukee, he also pointed to America’s improved economic performance over the last five years. “You wouldn’t know it from watching the news,” he lamented.

Throw in a dumb American electorate, along with voter fraud, and the RATS win.

Note, it is Obama who was preaching to ‘his people’ that their economic status improved under his leadership. Juan Williams being the good little soldier that he is, is doing the cover up your @ss legwork for HIM.

I would challenge Juan Williams or even Obama to stop by any town (besides DC swamp) to see the empty strip malls, boarded up store fronts to tell us that our economic status improved since he took office.

Juan is living in a vacuum, or wishes to be oblivious to reality. The “economy” is supposed to be getting better and the “liars” figures are suggesting the improvement. I will believe it when food and gasoline are once again affordable for EVERYONE.

Just because the Dems say the economy is better...well I’m not seeing it. It’s still difficult to impossible to find a real job. Businesses continue to die off and close. So many closed shops, strip malls and restaurants. Real estate market is still slow. There are houses around that have been on the market for years. Gas prices are way up. Remember when it was Bush’s fault that gas prices were a little high? Not even as high as now. This administration can put out all the good economic numbers they want....reality doesn’t support them.

” famous question by asking voters whether “you are better off than you were four years ago.” “

My income is less and everything at the supermarket costs more. SO, the answer is ‘No’

There are two economies. The one depicted in government released reports, and the real one.

The trouble for Juan is that people live in the real one.

Yeah the jerks on Wall Street don’t mind the fact that the dollar is becoming Monopoly money as long as the fed keeps printing it and they get to collect their share of it.

Come on Juan, zero interest rate scheme the fed is foisting on the world to attempt to avoid the calamity of the real interest rate that would bust your bubble wide open. The real interest rate should be somewhat north of 6 percent, ok 4 just for you. Can you imagine the Federal Government having to pay just four percent interest on the massive debt your half black president has gotten us into?

Yea Juan the stock market is doing well, how many middle class folks are in the market?

...and how long can the market continue to do well with the economic policies of the present administration. You know spending beyond what we have coming in to the treasury. Debt growing ever larger day by day.

Housing hasn’t recovered from 2008.

Wages haven’t recovered from 2008.

Jobs haven’t recovered from 2008.

EPA is still out of control and waging a war on coal and all other energy sources worth talking about.

Government regulation is mounting by the moment, as unfriendly to private enterprise as it has ever been.

The Federal Government is a hindrance to states attempts at self sufficiency by taking money from earners in a state through the withholding tax and demanding it be sent to Washington before being sent to the state dept of revenue.

Western state lands to a great percentage, are still in Federal hands when they should have been returned to the states shortly after statehood.

Juan, what alternate universe do you live in, and what economic principles are your guiding light?

“By almost every economic measure, we are better off today than we were when I took office,” the president said

What do you mean "we", half-white man?

What if you measure by the number of people on food stamps?

What if you measure by the number of people who are no longer in the workforce?

What if you measure by the number of people who have part-time jobs instead of the full-time jobs they had?
