George P. Bush, Jeb Bush's son and Republican candidate for Texas land commissioner, said that in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is just a "nominal" cost to taxpayers.
Speaking at The Texas Tribune Festival on Friday evening, Bush said that until someone can present a "sensible alternative" to the Texas's version of DREAM Act, he would support the the law that Texas Governor Rick Perry signed in 2001.
Bush said in-state tuition for illegal immigrants is just "a nominal cost from an economic perspective" for the state of Texas.
Bush also suggested that in-state tuition for illegal immigrants should be indexed. For example, illegal immigrants who start in kindergarten will receive 100 percent coverage while those who start from the 5th grade will get 50 percent of their benefits taken from taxpayers. Illegal immigrants who have lived in Texas for at least three years and have a high school diploma qualify for in-state tuition under the 2001 law Perry signed....

oh goodie. Maybe Daddy and Sonny can be the Pres and VP nominees in 2016. /s
The thing that sticks in Americans' craw is these illegals are receiving a taxpayer supported benefit that is unavailable to citizens.
Its not hard to understand...
I don’t think he’s nearly old enough.
The RINO doesnt fall far from the tree
If your name wasn’t Bush, no one would give a s__t what you think about tuition for illegals so shut up and go away.
Deport, deport, deport.
What he is not mentioning is the total injustice and illegal actions of the state in doing this legislation. There are GRANT monies that act like full scholarships also. Texas is ONE of THREE states providing this benefit. Well JEB...what say you to all the UAC’s now being funneled into Texas Courts for legalization? Will it still be NOMINAL COSTS? He is a SOCIALIST!
Please help fight socialism by joining IRCOT and overthrowing these unjust grants issued to illegal aliens in Texas.

Because right ant wrong are such outdated concepts.
Then why isn’t it a nominal cost for white kids from Georgia or Alabama?
Its easy to be generous w/ someone else’s money.
If I, as a US citizen, didn’t pay my income taxes—an illegal act—could I then move to Texas, not be arrested, and receive in-state tuition at the college of my choice?
He actually has fallen pretty far from the tree on most things.......but not this one.
I thought they come here only to do the jobs that other Americans won’t do. But when they get a college degree, they seek professional jobs that American citizens WILL do (and plenty are out of work).
Nominal Cost?? The tax on tea was just three cents per pound! And we didn’t put up with that!! Because we knew the objective was to enslave us!
Listen to the arrogance of these elitest aristocrats!
You nullified your whole question by admitting that you were a US Citizen. Sit down, shut up, go to work every day and pay your taxes, citizen!
Its easy to be generous w/ someone elses money.”
Just wait and see what he does when he’s elected to Land Commissioner in November. You haven’t seen anything yet.
why not just deport them instead?
If it’s nominal, he should pay it.
