The press keeps quoting this quisling. The GOP shifted left for how many elections now? You don’t get any more left than McCain.
I disagree with that, when you go back and look at what they wanted to get done in the coming years, they were radically left wing underneath the surface.
“(Ben Bradlee — JFK told me that “he was all for people’s solving their problems by abortion”.”
Ronald Reagan labelled JFK a “Marxist” in 1960 in a letter to the vice president, offering his services to help defeat JFK.
“”I do not include Kennedy’s acceptance speech because beneath the generalities I heard a frightening call to arms. Unfortunately he is a powerful speaker with an appeal to the emotions. He leaves little doubt that his idea of the “challenging new world” is one in which the Federal Govt. will grow bigger & do more and of course spend more. I know there must be some short sighted people in the Republican Party who will advise that the Republicans should try to “out liberal” him. In my opinion this would be fatal.””
(snip)
“One last thought,— shouldn’t some one tag Mr. Kennedy’s bold new imaginative program with it’s proper age? Under the tousled boyish hair cut it is still old Karl Marx—first launched a century ago. There is nothing new in the idea of a Govt. being Big Brother to us all. Hitler called his “State Socialism” and way before him it was “benevolent monarchy.”
From unionizing government, to Vietnam, to the 1965 Immigration Act, even the homeless, JFK was the end of us.
However, if there is one man who can take the most credit for the 1965 act, it is John F. Kennedy. Kennedy seems to have inherited the resentment his father Joseph felt as an outsider in Bostons WASP aristocracy. He voted against the McCarran-Walter Act of 1952, and supported various refugee acts throughout the 1950s. In 1958 he wrote a book, A Nation of Immigrants, which attacked the quota system as illogical and without purpose, and the book served as Kennedys blueprint for immigration reform after he became president in 1960. In the summer of 1963, Kennedy sent Congress a proposal calling for the elimination of the national origins quota system. He wanted immigrants admitted on the basis of family reunification and needed skills, without regard to national origin. After his assassination in November, his brother Robert took up the cause of immigration reform, calling it JFKs legacy. In the forward to a revised edition of A Nation of Immigrants, issued in 1964 to gain support for the new law, he wrote, I know of no cause which President Kennedy championed more warmly than the improvement of our immigration policies. Sold as a memorial to JFK, there was very little opposition to what became known as the Immigration Act of 1965.
For God’s sake, forget the White House. Worry about winnable races at the Congressional and state levels. The White House is conquered territory.

Romney was more more leftwing, the GOP had never seen anything like Mitt Romney, take over the party.
Romney went from leaving the GOP because of Reagan, to supporting, fund raising for, and voting democrat, to becoming the GOP nominee in 2012, after spending 50 million of his own money in an effort to get revenge against the right as revenge for his parents.

I like your attitude.
I agree with you but Kennedy was on the liberal side of the Democratic party yet he was still anti-Communist. He supported the military. In fact he loved to attend various military firepower demonstrations.
Too bad that he was worse at foreign policy than Obama and Jimmy Carter.
Sorry for the three-peat.. FR locked up on me.
Ah yes, the Prince of Painesville
No one was or is worse than Jimmy or Obama.
JFK was, Vietnam and the 1965 Immigration Act and government unions, gave us the America we have today.
Imagine an America without the 1960s.
Thanks for this thread.

- - - Why blame the establishment GOP - - - ?
Mainly because without the permissive support for Obama by the Establishment GOP, Obama, Holder, Reid and Lerner could never have wrecked the US Federal Government after the National Election of 2010.
Then in 2012, the Establishment GOP saw to it that the most Socialist Republican got nominated in Tampa, while making sure that the Republican Conservatives were locked out.
Currently, the Establishment Republicans are in a headlong race to be the most like the Democrat Socialists.
The Mid-Term Election of 2014 will be payback for us Conservative Republicans, - - - sweet payback!
After the well-deserved, RINO Open Season carnage of 2014, we will shift into Conservative Attack Mode for the National Election of 2016.
The National Election of 2016 will THE time, - - - time for a change.
Deal with it, LaTourette, deal with it.
Yes. Lived in Madison. Left his wife in ruins. Other than convicting that filthy scumbag cult murderer, he’s worthless.
prosecuting...not convicting!
Dole, Mcain, Romney. Yep, going to the left sure helps us win elections.
Ok, I figured someone would have posted it!
Just nominate Ted Cruz and settle this issue once for all. If GOP keeps nominating “moderates” we will never know.
