Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio is garnering support from mainstream Republican fundraisers and contributors for a 2016 presidential run, according to The Hill. Those backing Rubio are antagonistic toward the tea party and see him as an alternative to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who faced new allegations over the weekend that allegedly implicate him in the "Bridge-gate" lane-closing scandal.
The senator's presidential stock has fluctuated. A year ago Time magazine hailed Rubio as "The Republican Savior" only to see him displaced by Christie after Rubio fumbled delivering the GOP response to the 2013 State of the Union Address. Rubio also antagonized conservatives by supporting Senate immigration reform legislation, according to the Post.

He sold out REAL fast. Allen West needs to primary his ass in 2016.
“...Rubio is candidate most dems would like to see nominated cause they think he is easily beatable.”

I would agree. We need to avoid another McCain/Romney scenario that just loses elections. Most people don’t think about it — these two RINOs (liberals really) still lost elections while Reagan (our last real conservative) won big. We even won twice with a “compassionate-conservative” who did little with two terms and a Congress majority.
I just hope we don’t have another lesser of two evils choice situation but it is looking that way.
Rubio = amnesty
Rubio recently began pushing ideas to reform higher education. Maybe such ideas are needed, but coming from him it mostly seems like another effort to distance himself from his alliance with Schumer and other Dims on amnesty for illegal aliens.
Yes and if he changes his amnesty position, I’m still not voting for him.
Oh, the "he is not the perfect candidate so I can't vote for him" reasoning?
Phooey. You probably wouldn't have voted for Reagan.
You're either a short-sighted idiot or a troll. Which is it?
Actually, I did vote for Reagan. As long as the GOPe can count on conservative votes in the general election, they’ll be destroying the conservative candidates in the primaries. Voting for the left wing GOP candidate is the short sighted position. Is that you, Karl?
By the way, the whole “Reagan couldn’t get elected in today’s GOP” argument is a line used by the establishment left who fought against Reagan. It’s untrue and the liars know it. You need to hang out with a better crowd.
I’ve grown up and am a big boy now and do not need the GOP to tell me how to think or vote.
I will NOT again be snookered in to voting for the lesser of two bad choices.
REAL conservative or go fish.
should read beltway Republican fundraisers
The truth is most of the GOPe didn’t want Reagan and couldn’t wait until January 1989 for him to be gone. The tea party and conservatives of the party would wade neck deep through a hog pen to have the chance to vote for Reagan again. The GOPe would be treating Reagan the same way they treat the: tea party, Cruz, and Palin are treated, with utter contempt.
Rubio’s nomination would at least save me a trip to the polls in 2016.
True, Reagan cut tax rates early in his Presidency, but the rate cuts accompanied closing "loopholes" like the credit card interest deduction that meant that many Americans saw little net cut.
He also backed an increase in the Social Security tax and in the national gasoline tax.
Let's not forget that he granted amnesty to illegal aliens in 1986.
So yeah, if Cruz, or Rubio, or Cristie ran on increasing the Social Security tax, the Gas tax, and granting amnesty to illegal aliens, you'd support them just like you did Reagan, right?
Nobody’s perfect. I don’t expect them to be. Reagan was opposed by the GOPE daddy Bush was their darling. You go ahead and vote for leftist approved candidates but I only vote for candidates that will be good for the country.
So if, in your infinite wisdom, you deem both candidates to be bad for the country, you will vote for the worse one - or not vote at all, which helps him as well - so that you will get a better choice next time?
How well has that been working out for you so far?
It’s working quite well. The GOP leftists are being flushed into the open, more conservatives are electing solid representatives, and the evil that controls the GOP is weakening. The fact that they try to infiltrate and influence discussions even on FR tells me that they are losing the debate. I don’t know why they bother though since their willing serfs are so easy to spot.
Correct!!
I think the problem with Rubio is trust and judgement. He broke his word about amnesty, then he went to bed with Schumer and McCain. He fooled me once. Not again. For too long the GOP was allowed to lie to us with impunity. That time is over. It is now a time of accountability.
As I recall the Gang of 14 took away our middle level court appointees. Yes, I remember betrayal. How they knifed Frist in the back and took away the only chance we have had in my lifetime to roll back a bit of marxism. For what? Senate comity? Now we have courts packed full of libtards. You’re right Bush didn’t do that! It was McCain, Byrd, Ghram, Voinovich etc. I will never get over that betrayal. And I will not allow someone to have another chance to betray me.
Bush appointed and the senate confirmed some very conservative judges. Not a single one under Obama. I will not vote for Rubio in the primary...but would certainly do so in the general.
