What they mean by ‘assault’ weapons, is to say ‘effective’ weapons.

The Party of Slander systematically smears the rights of the people. What they mean by “assault” is actually defense. What is the estimate on the number of guns in the country - 100 million, out of a population of 300 million children, superannuated denizens of nursing homes, and adults? Many gun owners have more than one, of course, but you’d have to think that there are 30 million gun owners.And what is the number of gun murders annually? On the order of 5 per hundred thousand people, or 50 per million. 50 per million people, times 300 million people, would be something on the order of 15 thousand annually. So as a very rough guess, for every 15 gun murders there are 300,000 gun owners - or twenty thousand gun owners for every one murder in a given year.
IOW, for every gun owner who will commit a murder with a gun this year there are about 20,000 who will not. From this we can readily conclude that almost all gun owners get their gun(s) for reason(s) other than an intention to commit murder. Instruments to be used to “assault" is what they are not. Naturally, therefore, anyone who wanted to oppress the 30 million adults who have guns and the 270 million people (to say nothing of posterity) who have not obtained guns yet but who retain the natural right to do so in the future would slander the manufacturer and the owner of instruments used almost exclusively for entirely legitimate purposes as traffickers in “assault” weapons.
