Convention speeches: Ann Romney vs. Chris Christie
Vanity | 8/28/2012 | The Rhinelander

The buzz is that Ann Romney's speech was off the charts and that Chris Christie's speech was moderately good but didn't have the red meat people wanted. I tend to disagree. Christie's speech was fantastic but in a much more subtle way. He showed the stark differences. Thoughts?

They were different speeches and accomplished different goals. They were both great. Ann’s speech gave us a look at the real compassionate and determined side of Mitt. While Christie’s speech let everyone the Republican party is talking about big issues and problems and willing to confront and tackle them with real solutions.

Both were excellent.

Christie was lifeless, dull.

Republicans skipped the traditional keynote entirely in 2000 for pieces on (future backstabber) Colin Powell & John McCain.

In 2004, the keynote speaker was Zell Miller.

In 2008, Fred Thompson and Joe Lieberman talked about their experiences knowing John McCain.

Dems had Harold Ford Jr. keynote in 2000 (how'd that work out)? Mark Warner was keynote in 2008. The noteworthy keynote was Obama in 2004 which "launched" his national career.

You missed some historical moments

Trust me, I know what will be history. Why watch those who don't have a clue?

Ann Romney and Chris Christi did a splendid job!

Both of them as well as the other speeches were hit out of the ball-park!

GOD Bless The USA!

Anne Romney really hit it out of the park. She made Condi Rice cry for cripes sake. She definitely picked up votes for Mitt. I looked at her and thought how great it would be to have a good looking, gracious woman in the Whitehouse again. No more boob belts and angry black panther fist pumps.

I don’t even like the guy and I thought Chris Christie gave a very good nuanced speech. Would have preferred to see Allen West or Rand Paul give the keynote but that was not going to happen.

Call it bigotry but it’s what they believe.

Wow what a bigoted statement, her speech about her marriage had absolutely nothing to do with her religion, you should be ashamed.

I don’t know. Walker was good, and so was the lovely governor of South Carolina. Ayotte. Was. Terrible. Palin would have blown them away. Makes me wonder (but not very hard) what the Romney folks fear.

So true, he’s not perfect, but at least I will feel he’s not a TelePrompTer driven finger in the wind leader.

Romney claims to have changed to a pro-life position. According to the link below, so has Ann, who supposedly became co-chairman of Massachusetts Citizens for Life:

Mrs Romney is has undoubtedly (in her mind) converted her Episcopalian parents to Mormons. That’s an integral part of their faith.
