July 9, 2002 -- President Bush yesterday forcefully rejected calls to dump Securities and Exchange Commission chief Harvey Pitt and said he's "doing a fine job" and is "fast to act" against corporate cheats.

Bush's strong vote of confidence came after Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) joined Democratic critics in calling for Pitt's head. McCain called him "slow and tepid" in an opinion piece for The New York Times.

"Harvey Pitt was put in place to clean up a mess..." Bush told a news conference.

The president's control never ceases to amaze me. He clearly sees the national and international messes the Clinton/Gore drones left him to clean up (some intentionally, like signing the Kyoto and ICC treaties.)

And, yet, President Bush never reacts by pointing the finger of blame back at either of the Clintons, or Gore; no matter how they goad him.

I really give Bush credit for doing what few, if any, political figures in his position could do. Not only is the president a patient man, he really is the "anti-Clinton".

I loved when Bush brought up the point that EVERY member of Congress voted PITT in and that there were no Nea votes against him.

I just finished watching the Press Conference on Real Player here at work and it never ceases to amaze me how honest this president is. He answered each questioned honestly and with more patience than I would have with these obvious agenda driven reporters.

Again, where did all these messes really start? I know where they can end and I am hoping that they will soon. They will if trust can be established again. The DemocRATs are continuing to amaze me. But then they let Clinton run the show and seem to continue to do so.

When is McWhine's head going to explode?

Wake when it's going to happen.

This is wild. The media and the dems are on the attack because they want the investigations to stop. Tonight's news will start out with another look at the beating in California, next will be loud mouth Jesse Jackson slamming Bush and Ashcroft, this will be followed up by a story on Harken Energy, and then John McCain will be on asking for Pitt's resignation.

One thing you have to say about Bush: whether you think his people (Mueller, Pitt) are doing a good job or not, he STANDS BEHIND THEM, and is 100% loyal. That is the kind of guy I want to work for. I think that the American people see that in his character and it comes through as a desirable trait.

Yes, it can go too far, but since most of us are not privy to the insider info on these people, I have to think that anyone working for Bush (except that idiot Andy Card) has to thank God every day for the loyalty of his boss.
