You bet they're in denial...Joey can't do anything wrong. The family's care & concern only goes one way. His aunt lost $15,000 (family members put up the other $3,000) when he jumped bail and she & the other family members won't get it back. Joey also had $13,000 in the bank that he didn't put towards his own bond OR pay his family back. He withdrew that from the bank right before he jumped bail.
His family, including his aunt, Audrey Konopka of De Pere, had posted $18,000 bail in Konopka’s various cases.

I have a feeling that they're just plain, simple folks who are absolutely befuddled by the actions of this guy, and at the same time, completely conned by him.
